I have not watched every game this season as I did in the past, but the ones I did see gave me the impression that the freshman guards were more committed to throwing up 3's than they were getting the ball in to the posts. They did feed Jones more but once she was out the passes to the post basically disappeared. It is no unusual for freshman, who were the go to players on their teams to want to carry that over to college. Especially when they start off hot and then cool down later in the season. I thought Beaverstever was correct in his assessment on why the turn around in the post play. Both Brown and Jelena are very good post players who could dominate if fed properly. I would also have liked to see them both on the floor together with on at the high post who could feed the other on the low post. The other team would not be able to stop that. The biggest hindrance to their game is not getting the ball when they are in position. When you have a player as tall as either Brown or Jelena passing to each other, those passes become automatic. They are both good passers with excellent court vision.

I hope Jelena and KB's improved post play is for real, but I'm worried that it's a lot more to do with the personel and style of play of our last two opponents. For both teams if they were not able to pressure/turnover the guards it was really just layup city. I don't think we will learn much against New Mexico either, but if the level of production stays high against UCLA (I'm projecting) then we have something. We were just getting moved off our spots so easily in Pac-12 play, I just don't know if it could have been fixed that fast. I hope it has, but I'm just not sure.

Good thought, it was a dramatic improvement the last couple games, but maybe a combo of non-conf opponents and ongoing improvement, hoping too it continues through the WNIT, and that we continue through the WNIT !
