Lara was announced earlier this year, I believe Coach Engel’s tweet is referring to a new instate commit.
My gut says it is a guy from Newberg or CV. But I’d also love to see Michel join the Beavs.
I am also keeping an eye on Nate Aguilar’s brother Nicolas. I believe he wrestled at CCC this year after transferring from Rutgers. Personally I’d love to see the Gilroy pipeline continue to grow.
It is awesome as a fan to see our coaches pushing hard to keep the NW’s best home. Would love to hear everyone’s prediction or wish list on the remaining uncommitted guys out of the NW.
Go Beavs!

It said "we got a big time commit staying in Oregon" ...that is part of the tweet. He was in Hershey Pa. Aa and AAA state championships on March 13 too on another note.

Walters - Lamer - Davis - Evans - Gillett would be the best left unsigned IMO. Gage Singleton as a younger one. I like Mauro as well but it’s hard to tell when there are other guys who you can compare on a national level whereas with Mauro he doesn’t get to bigger tournaments as much. As far as other guys in the NW I really like Qiuntanilla - He won a college open as a junior in high school this year. I know OSU has been recruiting Idaho as well. Idaho has a really good hwt in Attaio. California also has a stud Het who won state as a sophomore. I like Nico A as well.

Anyone have news on the in state recruit? It’s been pretty silent. Perhaps they were giving time to contact other coaches in the running after the ncaa. Just a guess.

Personally I doubt it's Lamer. Seems like Walter would have announced it, he's on social media I think and so is his dad. So I'm leaning more towards Gillett or Rademacher. Darkhorse: maybe one of the Thurston kids. I believe Vaun Halstead visited last fall.

Nate and IMAR just tweeted another in state commit not sure if it’s the same one from before or another new one Either way, what a great sign that we've got in-state kids that want to stay home. Going from memory, in 2017 I think we only kept 1 D1 kid in-state (Rockwell from Riverside) and 7 kids left - Lamer (Cal Poly), Stigall (Missouri), Barnes (N. Colorado), Van Anroy (Michigan), Maley (Stanford), Austin Harris (Ok State) and Josh Reyes (Fresno). Interesting that 3 of them ended up back in Corvallis eventually. 2018 I think we went 0-2 with Wittlake and Hunter Sparks (Cal Poly). 2019 I think 1 stayed (Ein Carlos) 3 went out of state - Harman, Legend Lamer, Jordan Reyes to Buffalo. I imagine I'm forgetting some kids in that timeframe. Colbray was probably 2015 or 2016, had a nice career at Iowa St. We're not going to keep them all here, but hope we can make it a tough decision!

Yep I agree- We are going to make it a harder decision for kids... the NCAA tournament and attention is helping a lot. We also lost Lamer to Michigan and Cantu to Indiana. Out of all the kids that left, only Wittlake has been an AA and several of them were never even starters. I think from that group there will be more... like both Lamers I think will AA. Exited and imaptient to see who the new recruits are... refresh...refesh.

Agree for sure on Chance Lamer. He's going to be a stud. I think Santo was 2020 so I didn't include him. Think he's been fighting injuries so hopefully he's back in action next year. Definitely rooting for him. His dad was great to my son at Salem Elite - had a tough group of kids in that room at the time - Santos, Kaden Kuenzi, Ein Carlos, Keith Brown (now playing football at UofO), Michael Abeyta who went on to Augsburg MN for a bit (died in a motorcycle accident last year). There were some great scraps - man I miss having a high school wrestler.

Speaking of Salem Elite. A couple Beavers were there last night. Singleton Brothers, Ruchti Brothers. Was cool to see them giving back to the program. Probably 6-8 Roseburg kids, Thurston kids and a bunch of the Salem/Albany & surrounding area talent in the room. Great atmosphere and the new facility at the YMCAA is amazing!

Yes! Some great kids have come out of Salem elite ... Back in the "old" days it was Cobra and Peninsula that were the top clubs. I love what Pittman does - he has made a huge impact on his community. I am always glad to see kids giving back. Hopefully we can land Gage in two years. Tough kid.JJ Dixon is another one who gives back to his club up in Washington. Community service... academics... wrestling... Kids are excelling in important areas of the Beaver wrestling program.
