Sure wish I could watch. Ferrerr seems to be dealing again. What a stud! He showed some good stuff in Surprise. Can’t wait to see how far he’ll go!

Beavs win.
Ferrer was phenomenal in relief.
I tuned in late & missed Hjerpe, but his numbers looked good.
Kick ass tomorrow & get some payback for a frustrating series last year.

My bad. Was commenting on the chainsaw. Well, if he was from NZ instead of Australia you could stick with the forestry thing!

Great to be back after two years being away. And it’s certainly better than parking in front of the heat plant and “watch” from the car while listening to the radio.

a few thoughts: I never felt Hjerpe was in trouble at all. 3 doubles, big deal. His tosses to first were very pedestrian. "I know you're there" kinda tosses. He was in total control. I liked the fact that Dorman had a well timed visit to Brown after walking the first guy he faced after being ahead 1-2 in the count. A previous pitching coach might've taken the ball right then and there and left the young man doubting himself. Dorman probably said "just get me one out." Brown then got the ground out on a 0-2 count, Dorman says thank you, enter Ferrer. I feel like Brown left feeling good about himself, and Dorman placed some trust in him. Then, Big Ben was money! If he hadn't plunked the 2 outs in T9 dude, he could've ended up with 8K's in 10 batters faced! Instead he settles for 7 K's of 11 'eaters faced. Yeah, we'll take that any day of the week!
And Melton's line out to deep CF in the 5th was absolutely scorched. Balls hit that hard, that stay in the yard, are rare.
Offensively, Bazzana is a treat to watch. I believe tonight was at least his 3rd sac bunt that he's beaten out on this very young year. And he makes good stuff happen on the bases.
Yes, it was damn chilly out there tonight.
Can't wait for tomorrow's game!

Go Beavs What kind of heat was Ferrer dealing or does our scoreboard not have that feature and if not why not? Scouts had him in the low 90 range, but his slider was the best pitch. He has a decent CH and CB, but last night Irvine was a really poor vs offspeed and was not a disciplined team at the plate. A large majority of their swing/misses were out of the zone and then frozen on pitches in the zone. No excuses, but the cold was really affecting their players/dugout. Goss does not have a gun readout. A long time ago in a conversation with PC he was not a fan of it. He basically said it was a toy for the fans and that the folks that needed the info had it available. I've always agreed and often times the fields with said readouts are inaccurate or poorly run.

Ok....Thanks for the great report rgeorge....looks like he might be our best candidate for a Sat. or Sun. replacement starter right now. For me personally it really adds to the enjoyment of watching the game if I know what velocity the pitchers are throwing, but I see your point about some of the stadiums gun readouts being inaccurate.
