I'm pretty sure that gravy was fed up with Campbell and his antics. He would have been gone sooner except i made it clear that if he goes she will follow him.
At times it was funny watching gravy deal with the two of them, both had no problem throwing a fit on the bench of things didn't go their way. That was the only thing that made going to their games tolerable, that and my Mom was able to go.

He could also miss Mark Campbell. Campbell is not well-liked here, for obvious reasons, but he’s a really, really good coach and while Graves obviously hired assistants who can recruit, I’m not sure that either has the X’s and O’s or experience that they lost in Campbell. Campbell also took another assistant, Xavi Lopez, with him. Both are excellent recruiters. I think uo is still seeing the fruits of their recruiting efforts as well as the Sabrina & Nike effect. We’ll see how long that lasts. And Graves didn’t have to deal with 5 star recruits and superstars before he got to oregon.

There were some problems on that staff and it's illuminating the assistant coach, the director of ops (they're married) and Minyon Moore all went to Sac State. Maybe it was just a good time for a breakup. And from watching their huddles during the time outs, Campbell did most of the in-game coaching.

Not a Graves fan but-
Last year he had a highly rated group of Freshman/transfers and he tried to keep them all happy with playing time so he wouldn't have a mass exodus of players at the end of the year. It happened anyway.
This year he seems to be going much more with whoever is getting the job done gets the playing time. With all of the health problems he's doing a pretty good job winning games. With the help of an all pac-12 guard transferring in that is. Not his fault that Rogers figured she'd make more money in Knightland.

You don't think Campbell will be in the running for that job in about 5 years? Graves is getting old at 58. He wont coach to 70 like I expect Scott to. Scott is 52, turns 53 in July. So his contract extension takes him through the year in which he turns 62. Maybe he's thinking that would be a good age to retire? Who knows? What makes you think he'd go to 70?

Maybe because Geno I. and Tara V. are nearing there ends. Going to be interesting when those two leave. Surprised it is not mentioned more in recruiting that these two will be done within 4 years is my guess.
