Kupp hopes to match Thomas's greatness someday.

Cooper Kupp MVP. It’s a long way from Cheney, Wa! Like I always tell my kids, the great ones come from all over. Cheney for college Yakima for hometown I must wonder how the Coug and Dawg fans are feeling that this talent slipped through their fingers.

Yes, I was referring to EWU, not The Palm Springs of Washington.

I’m not bragging, but I continued my lifelong streak of NEVER having seen a SB halftime show. It’s inevitable that a person will view bits and pieces of anything blaring over the boob-toob, but I’ve NEVER purposely watched “the show.” Simply NOT interested. We had eleven family members over yesterday and I was in charge of doing the grilling, so I watched MAYBE 30% of the actual game. Watched MOST of the last eight minutes, or so. Yes. You MAY call me an old fart, but those half-time abominations started when I was a young fart. Our five grandkids were shooting hoops on the trampoline, getting chased by the dogs, or riding the little Jeep around during the “show.” Perfect day in the mid-valley! Today? Not so much.

The best commercial all game was the local Jerry's Hardware ad with the penguins.

I’m not bragging but the only Super Bowl action I saw was the entire halftime show on YouTube today. It was very good.
Didn’t watch one down of the game and haven’t even seen one highlight. All I know is the Rams won and the final was 23-20 (I think).
What do I win?

Officials get 1 star for today’s game. Maybe 2. But the defenses get 5. Fun game. Not the best officiated game. The bothersome part was that the refs swallowed their whistles for 58 minutes, then called a phantom defensive holding call on a play that would have led to 4th and goal from the 7 without the foul. There were a handful of legitimate fouls that *could* have been called throughout the game, so that kind of sucked to see what wasn't even a "ticky tack" penalty get called as one on a crucial play in the game.

Well.... the Ramsey facemask no call was a very big deal. Lead to a Bengal TD. Hard to see in real time and the sideline guy was blocked from it... but that was a big no call. The call on the LB vs Kupp was ticky tack but the guy had his hands on him... and the next holding call was a no brainer so the Bengals were definitely being handsy on Def....

The problem I had with it is they let both teams get away with a lot of that type of play the whole game. Then it switched at the very end.

Aaron Donald was blatantly lined up in the neutral zone on the Bengals first quarter 4th & 1 play. That's a free possession, arguably as big of a missed call as the missed facemask. As I said, lots of whistle swallowing until the last 2 minutes.

And here's a shocker: Although I get called "Boomer" around here I actually liked the halftime show. Sure, I didn't understand 5 words of most of the songs, but I thought the city map and the Impala low riders were cool. The mock-up of the town was cool too. Can't say it wasn't high energy, it was. And unless it was fake sound the crowd loved it big time.

I'm glad people who enjoy that genre liked the show and I'm not going to call the artists "thugs" and other worse descriptors just because I'm not a fan. Live and let live. I'd love a halftime show of the original Byrds/Flying Burrito Brothers. But that ain't gonna happen, nor would it be especially popular with anyone under 60. And 3/4 of the Burritos are dead, along with several of the original Byrds.

Late in the half, right? Or did I miss something early? 9:33 left in the first. 7 yards to the Cincy 44 on 2nd and 11. One of the prop bets was Stafford's rushing yards: 6.5 yards. Stafford lost a yard on the final kneel-down. A lot of people won/lost money because Stafford ran for seven yards, rather than eight.
