The thought that this roster is Thompson and Reichle away from an Elite Eight run breaks my brain.

Where are all of tinkles defenders? Last year I said an extension wasn't warranted. Many of you laughed at that. Nobody is laughing now.

Ha... "blame" a funny concept. I find it far more than funny that some here thought the E8 run in a very weird, unique season deserved an extension. And, that some of those have said that the very guy giving the extension can't be trusted to hire a new HC. AD can't be trusted to hire, but can evaluate correctly to give an unnecessary extension?? Makes complete sense. So, I'll leave the officials and players alone. And "blame" the constant excuses. The consistent disregard for obvious shortcomings. The ridiculous dichotomy of so called ardent Beaver fans that stress successes yet claim "no quality coach would come here... WT the best we can get". I donāt. Everyone was pretty high last year from the run. I still think of it as one of the greatest moments in Beaver sports. It was everything that we expected the Tinkle teams to be like, based upon the first year and his first shot at the tourney. Even you canāt convince me that you knew last year that weād be sitting at just three wins this far in the season after an amazing run. How? How can a program that made a good run at the tourney do so poorly the next year?

Nobody was knocking on his door to coach elsewhere.

How can a program that made a good run at the tourney do so poorly the next year? No one I've seen made predictions on wins. But, it's pretty easy to predict program stability from recruiting and player development. The lack of it. Last year's run was fun, certainly. Unexpected. But, also an anomaly. There is certainly no one with any basketball insight who saw a continuation of that. Honestly, did you believe that with the lackluster recruits and these returners there would be even a "predicted" 4th place finish? While 7-8 other Pac12 teams actually can recruit, almost all improved their rosters. Add to that WT's program has really shown no consistency. So, no. I didn't make a W/L prediction. Who predicts 3-15??But, pretty much said this team was middle tier if lucky. Not too lucky I guess!

You sound like a broken record.
If Wayne or Scotty play a different tune, the record will change.

Where are all of tinkles defenders? Last year I said an extension wasn't warranted. Many of you laughed at that. Nobody is laughing now. Would you like an apology? Some self-debasing confession of our ignorance? Would you like us to acknowledge that your knowledge and judgment are far superior to ours? Shall we never post again because we have shown such horrendous basketball knowledge? Very well. You, sir, are a genius. Your knowledge and judgement of basketball is vastly superior to mine and, frankly, to the vast majority of "fans" out there. Congratulations on the crystal-clear insight that led you to understand that a contract extension for Tinkle at the end of the 20-21 season was not in OSU's best interests. I cannot speak to the mindset of anyone else who defended a contract extension for a man who took OSU further than anyone had in 55 years,* but I must confess that I fell for it and thought we should sign an extension for a man that got us our first non-vacated NCAA win in 46 years (right around the time when disco exploded). I apologize. It is because of "fans" like me that OSU is now burdened with Wayne Tinkle's contract for far longer that it would have been if OSU had just had the courage and insight to sit on his then-current contract and offer no reward for something that had not been seen at Oregon State since the Johnson administration.* We should all write AD Barnes to inform him that the Oregon State University Athletic Department would be in far better shape if they consulted you before any contractual and other coaching decisions are made. I bow to your superiority. *I know you need not be reminded that OSU's wins from the 80-82 were vacated. P.S. -- Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky is probably the single finest bourbon I have ever had in its price-range.

In the 6 straight tourney wins, every opponent shot under 25% from 3ā¦ the most important stat in basketball. Even the most elite defenses donāt defend that well. It was a fluke.
