Can't trust a box score. Said Arizona was in the bonus, but apparently not. Sabally fouled w/ 1 second left. Now going OT. Maybe Rueck should take notes on using a foul when you have one to give.

Ware gets called on a questionable foul meanwhile prince and sabally can do anything that want with no call.

The ref that hands the ball to az to inbound counts to 3 and the whistle blows for a 5 second turnover. WTF. It was barlow with the whistle not the guy that handed the ball to the player. It was called at 49.4 seconds left in OT.
Another game decided by the refs.

Indeed, foul-to-give is your best weapon in that situation. Rueck totally stumbled on that question in the post-game presser. I've never seen him react quite like that to a question. I do not know if his instructions during the timeout neglected to include "take a foul" (in which case it's on him)...or if did give that instruction, and he didn't the answer in the presser in order to protect his player(s), or what. Of course it's totally up to the player(s) to strategically commit the foul, and it didn't happen. If AZ had been put in a situation where they only had 6-7 seconds to execute a play from an inbound, there was a reasonable chance that the game would head to OT. The Freshman OSU player guarding Pellington up top could have easily fouled her with a reach-in with 6 or 7 seconds left (well beyond the 3-Pt line), but instead played off, and then the screen developed and it was all she wrote.

ricke 71: You're exactly right.....I could hear Aleah Goodman screaming from Durham: "Foul her when she takes her first dribble." Didn't happen. GO BEAVS!!

Rueck blew it with not fouling but maybe he can learn from it . Kind of gave an asshat answer to the media.

It is hard to understand this particular coaching blunder at this critical stage of the game....I know it is usually one of the assistants job to keep the head coach on top of the foul situations.....I wonder with the new assistants this year if this failed to happen at this point.....especially in light of the way the coach stumbled over this when the question was posed to him after the game.....I would think that one of the assistants should have been in his ear as soon as that timeout was called with---"ok we've got fouls to give so priority #1 is foul them and disrupt their play".....and so that is the primary thing that is in the coachs mind as he goes to set up his defense with the players.

Coaches make miscues in every game, but this one was particularly noticeable, and costly. I imagine one of the assistants will get a talking to about this, but it may well have been Coach himself who didn't think clearly in the fog of war. Whatever the case, it is way out of line for a program that is known for handling itself with pose and proficiency in the last 2 minutes of a game.
Moving forward, I'm hoping that Taylor Jones is ready for action soon....And I'm really hoping that Kampschraeder finds her shooting eye. This year's team has yet to produce a go-to player who can make the tough shot, and who can consistently nail the open one.... In the Arizona game, 4 different Beaver forwards hit a 3, but not a single guard scored from beyond the arc. That's gotta change if the Beavs are going to be a top 4 team.... GO BEAVS!!

Whatever wins this team has this year, it's going to be because they turn up the defense, or someone gets hot from 3. We know Talia can do it, as we saw it last season, and Greta has shown flashes, but she needs to begin playing with confidence. That may not be until next season. Had Taya not been hot from 3, the Arizona game wouldn't have been so close. Beavs are a solid team that will grow this year, and could be strong toward the end of the season. In the meantime, it's turn up the defense, and someone be a scoring threat, especially from 3. I expect Colorado with win by double digits unless one, or both of those things happen.
