One of the most exciting things about this project is the accompanying repurposing of the old heat plant next to McAlexander Fieldhouse. Should be renamed Malamud Hall.
In a perfect world athletics could have repurposed that into a 2k venue for wrestling and volleyball, but this works just fine too.
Gonna be a ton of construction over the next decade (some at Goss too). Beavers are builders!

I hope Snell is close behind.

No mention of Snell. It's a dump but it has become the temporary home of those displaced by ongoing renovations in other buildings.
Baseball will lose some tailgating parking alongside McAlexander and the power plant when the pedestrian pathway replaces the road.

Not sure how you'd ever fit a volleyball court + 2,000 seats around it + concourse, support spaces, restrooms, entry/egress within that old heating plant footprint. It's just not large enough. Compare it to Langton Hall, the old OSU Gymnasium which seated about 2000 (with a balcony) when it was OSC's home arena pre-Gill Coliseum. Heating vs LangtonMaybe 1K - maybe.

Thank God 60 year old buildings apparently do no fall within the campus historical district restrictions and can be demolished as-needed.

I've seen a few old photos of Langton when it was packed. I was guessing 3500 in there. With bench seats and only a few aisles, you could really pack people in. I'd love to see some photos and get some actual information. But yes, a small sports arena / concert venue would be a great thing. A 2000 capacity is in the right ballpark.

Back in my day...Snell was home for those that didn't have a chance of getting laid and knew it. How long did you live there?
