Nice game. Where has that been? Does anyone know the academic status of Chol Marial? Will we see him this year? Have not heard if he will gain elgibility this year. I believe he’s redshirting.

It's obvious to me that the shift in the Earth's axis of rotation (Winter Solstice) was the reason you saw what you did last night. Just sayin'.

Just noticed that Jesse Sowa on Twitter said Hunt has been away from team dot the past week-plus for personal reasons. No mention of Covid. He had COVID, but that was a couple of weeks ago. Was wondering why everyone else was back When? Where was Covid posted? Does he have Long Covid?

It was nice to see Lucas and Alatishe assert themselves last night — especially WA. Not sure what it has been, but he has seemed a bit uninterested last few games. Also liked moving Malone-Key into starting lineup. He’s really probably not good enough to start in Pac 12, but he’s better than the alternatives. He plays hard and I think led team in rebounding last night. And Akanno played better last night off the bench.
I’m trying not to get too excited over win. I think they said Nicholls State was without its second best player, and they’ve had a pretty busy stretch of games. This was their 5th game since Dec 9 with plenty of traveling — MS to LA to WI to LA to OR. In comparison, Beavs had 3 games during that stretch — all at home. But no doubt Beavers put forth one of their best efforts this season. Now let’s carry that forward.

THAT was a fun game to watch. They hustled on O and D and on every loose ball. Actually saw some great plays with guys leaking in to the hoop and also kicking out to the top of the key and to the corners. Lucas was phenomenal and Warith and Dashawn, Taylor and everyone else really pushed their game up. You could tell that Nicholls had a pretty good team, but, we messed with their heads on defense( jumping out ), and the man coverage and switches were very effective ! I am very happy for all of the guys. Just wish we had a healthy ‘big’. Never heard that our 7’2” guy was red- shirting - only that he had some academic areas to clean up after his transfer . Hope that Hunt isn’t in limbo.

Beavs actually looked like they were having some fun last night. Some of those passes in the paint were pretty slick! I hope they can build upon it.

Sac St appears to be a pretty bad team. Hard to tell early on from NET alone. Nicholls was in the 120's (dropped 42 spots to 166 after last night) but 1/3 of their games thus far don't qualify as they are vs non D1 teams. The W jumped OSU 33 slots to #245. But, the Hornets (NET 288) have had 2 games cancelled and have not played since the 17th. They have 27 pt loss to Utah, 46 to Zona, but beat Davis?! Lol OSU has no where to go but up after Sac St as they are 12th in Pac12 NET (as of 12/21 games): 245 OSU 227 UW 129 ASU 128 Cal 125 Furd 110 Buffs 100 ucks 75 Utes 50 WSU 22 UCLA 12 USC 1 Zona

This looked like a great game, but is actually what you’d have expected at the start of the season. Good defense and enough offense from your top returning players with some contribution from newcomers. So it shouldn’t be an anomaly unless they catch the same disease they’ve had much of the season.
Writing may be on the wall for some. Williams hardly played, and he hasn’t earned it to be different. Calloo didn’t get a lot of minutes while also not hitting the shots he took. If he isn’t on, he’s a liability overall. Malone/Akanno/Johnson and Taylor will get minutes based on overall effort/contribution for that game. Hunt back will reduce the overall available minutes, but he should honestly be in the same situation.
I have to wonder if the previous two losses and poor efforts had players not fully recovered and low energy from Covid. The long losing streak wouldn’t have helped either, but good to see they haven’t given up on the season based in their play in this game.

Oregon State's 2021 NET Rankings: January 5: 198 April 5: 50
A lot can change in three months.
Throughout the 2020-2021 season, Oregon State beat NET #6 USC, NET #9 Colorado, NET #10 Loyola-Chicago, NET #15 UCLA, NET #19 Tennessee, NET #24 Oregon twice, NET #28 Oklahoma State, NET #56 Stanford (and who was robbed by failing to get an NIT invite), NET #64 Utah twice, NET #84 Washington State, NET #99 Arizona State, NET #134 California thrice, NET #161 UTSA, NET #168 Washington and NET #259 Portland State.
And that team lost to NET #321 Portland, during a terrible three-game run in an eight-day period.

Let's just focus on the next opponent. Got win them one at a time anyway.

The Beavs have three solid players right now....Alatishe (offense & defense), Lucas (offense) and Davis. Alatishe played up to his game last night.....nice to see. Lucas can carry a good load for the team offensively when he’s shooting like he is. Davis is looking more comfortable bringing the ball up. I thought Silva played solid (being hurt somewhat) but fought for boards and made a few buckets. Rand and Taylor are little raw yet but maybe they can develop their niche for this team midway through the conference play
