Honestly I don't know if ANY of us has the right to judge him a tool...he's a celebrity sure, and so he called out Drumpf....beyond that I know really not much about him, nor do I profess to. He MAY be a tool, but just because he has different political beliefs than you doesn't make him one. Right, left....we as a society need to be able to disagree with one another and not make it a personal thing or a character judgment. I'm guilty of it as well....working on it. I merely asked what made him "a great human being." Still waiting.

Pretty recognizable, a great human being , and very successful ! There are some real tools around , but he is not one of them - in many peoples opinions . A great human being? Please cite examples. I really give about zero s%#ts about Jimmy Kimmel and have never watched his show, save for a few random clips off YouTube... but google is pretty easy. Kimmel makes personal charity donations to: Aid Still Required Boys & Girls Clubs of America Clara Lionel Foundation DoSomething.org Friars Foundation GEANCO Hillsides Jamie Oliver Food Foundation Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation KaBOOM! Los Angeles LGBT Center National Inclusion Project NEXT for Autism St. Jude Children's Research Hospital The GEANCO Foundation The MaxLove Project Jimmy Kimmel, as a TV personality, has leveraged his show to fundraise for: The Texas Children's hospital Save the Ocean foundation Next for Autism (potentially controversial company... whatever) and that was just on like one minute from google. So apologies if there are inaccuracies. but it appears that he is philanthropic. But I get it... He made fun of Trump, that probably means he is public enemy number 1 in the eyes of some people... the HORROR! The same people that like to buy Let's Go Brandon! flags and then snicker like a bunch of kindergarteners that made a poop joke seem to be the same people that aggressively hate people that would voice their own, equally insulting, opinions about their leaders. Seems to be pretty sketchy ground to base visceral hate upon, but I can't wait to be told all the ways it has nothing to do with his repeated mocking of Trump and it is actually all this other stuff... that also doesn't matter at all, either.

Better than most celebs I guess. I actually don’t know anything about him specifically. I’ve never seen his show. I didn’t get the “donny” response until the political talk came out. I just have a disdain for know it all celebrities in general, regardless of political party. They just happen to be on the other side of that from me. Sorry that you felt you had to go on your own rant based on the one simple question that I asked.

I think it is a fair question... why is it the Jimmy Kimmel Bowl? We don't see the Dave Letterman Bowl in the history of bowl games.
He dressed in blackface several times, once making a Karl Malone impersonation that was less than admirable. Where does that land on the scoreboard of being "a great human being"?/
I don't find him to be funny, regardless of his politics or mine.
In a time period where Bowl games are typically sponsored by corporations I find it odd this on is sponsored by a "celebrity/comedian".

Hey! Kimmel doesn't check Google either!
Announcing the renaming on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel remarked that "never before has a bowl game been named after a human being (as far as I know, I didn’t check)".

Jimmy Kimmel to be title sponsor of LA Bowl, which will debut in December
Jun 16, 2021
Associated Press
LOS ANGELES -- The LA Bowl has found a big name to be its first title sponsor: ABC talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
The inaugural edition of the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl will be played Dec. 18 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the host announced on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday night. The game will air on ABC.
"This is not a joke," Kimmel said during his opening monologue. "This is a real bowl game named after me, so mark your calendars. ... It's like an early Christmas gift for all of us."
SoFi Stadium confirmed it has reached a multiyear deal with Kimmel to put his name above the title of the LA Bowl, the first college football game to be played at the year-old arena. The game's debut was delayed from 2020 until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, but it will match the Mountain West champion against the Pac-12's No. 5 bowl selection.
"Never before has a bowl game been named after a human being (as far as I know, I didn't check)," Kimmel said in a statement announcing the news. "On December 18, my dream of being forever enshrined alongside orange, rose, cotton and peach comes true."
The LA Bowl was established to create another big annual event for SoFi Stadium, which was built by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke as part of a large multi-use development on the former site of the Hollywood Park racetrack.
The multibillion-dollar arena opened last year, when the Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers played a full NFL season without fans in the stands. SoFi Stadium recently announced both teams will play at full fan capacity in the upcoming season, which begins with a preseason game between its two tenants Aug. 14.
The stadium will host the next Super Bowl on Feb. 13, 2022, followed by the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 9, 2023. The arena hopes to host World Cup matches in 2026, and it is likely to be the site of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

Don't think of it as the personal bowl game of Jimmy Kimmel. It's a sponsorship. No different than any other. Rather than label it the "ESPN LA Bowl" or the "ABC News LA Bowl" they decided to name it after one of their television programs. If it was "The Bachelorette LA Bowl" would anyone care? Like everything else in bowl season, it's all about the $. Late night TV has been dying for years, maybe this is a way to generate some buzz to get more eyeballs on their TV show, end of story.

Jimmy Kimmel or anyone else who opposed those who tried to overthrow the US government by attacking the US Capitol in an attempt to prevent the certification of the legitimately-elected president of the United States are OK in my book.

The articles I saw said he paid for it himself. Somewhere between $300k and $1M. Look it up though!

He's also been in support of ending women's suffrage. That makes him OK in my book. In the end I'm not sure why either side really cares that much about what he has to say. I think he's a comedian that in the end is going to do what he thinks is going to make him money. Good for him for being charitable and having fun with the naming rights of a silly bowl game. I'm just not sure if any of that makes him a "great person."

Blackface is bad... but you are a madman if you don't think "Why don't they call it the Liv-A-Beetus and give some people some hope?" from that infamous deep thoughts from Karl Malone bit wasn't comedy gold. All time best dad joke ever... unfortunately wrapped up in a highly racist package. I can't keep up with when we can, and cannot cancel a person based on things they did 20+ years in the past and have since said they are sorry. As a person that is really progressive and not some slacker-ass keyboard social justice warrior, I think you can't simultaneously advocate for "banning the box" and forcing employers and business owners to turn a blind eye to past criminal records for potential employees (i.e advocate for criminal justice system reform) AND be the type of person to get your panties in a twist about behavior that, while clearly racist, in the era was not close to as taboo as it is now. It is bulls%#t and hypocritical. Did he apologize and does he behave that way now? yes or no? has amends been made? yes or no? really that is all you need to ask and know. You are totally allowed to dislike Kimmel, like I said up there, I don't watch his talk show (I did watch the Man show back in the day because I was about 20 when it was a big deal... I was the demographic) I don't really care about him one way or another... Heck you are totally allowed to question the direction of college football if we are at the point we are letting celebrities buy bowl games... whatever. I want to be clear I am not defending Kimmel. I honestly don't care. The above was both being the devil's advocate and expressing my own thoughts on the bulls%#t of our cancel culture. I am, however, arguing the sociology of what is happening in this thread. I do get amused at the odd little culture wars we all fight, and the bizarre ways we show our tribal affiliations in life... The original complaint was not about the economics of Football, or the potential negative consequences of capitalism and business exploitation of college students. Things that really actually have larger world consequences... No, it was annoyance at a hollywood elite based soley on his status of being... a hollywood elite...ahem, Lib. Mind you, I wonder if the OP would classify Clint Eastwood, an actor in literally hundreds of productions, director, writer, etc and a net worth exceeding $375 million as a "hollywood elite"? or if he gets the pass because the he doesn't hit the Lib check mark. If Clint Eastwood started the Clint Eastwood Presents the Guns, Guts and God Texas Bowl... do you ask the same questions? (side note, I'd like Clint Eastwood to start the Guns, Guts and God Bowl, please.)
