That would be interesting. I think Chip is a better coach than Mario, but he’s nowhere near the recruiter. Also, he’s lost some of his luster now that the officials don’t let you run a play every 5 seconds.

No respectable school would hire back a coach that left them for the pros, and failed. Those guys suck!!

I wouldn't hire Chip if I was uo. Times have changed...he doesn't have the same advantages he once did at uo. Example...defenses can set and the fast pace offenses have been legislated out of the game. The hurry up game they killed teams with.

Peterson would definitely be an upgrade...Cristobal is a great recruiter...mediocre coach. Whittingham is the best coach in the conference and it showed versus the ducks. Lesser talent...better coaching and development.

8 million to coach his alma mater. Makes sense. And tons of high school talent within shouting distance. But no philbucks. I didn’t detest Crystal Balls like I do most duckers, but I fear a good coach taking his place.

Chip would be a big mistake. He’s not a bad coach by any means, but he doesn’t have what he once had.
But at least that’s thinking in the right direction. They don’t need some Florida guy to come and coach for a couple years until they can go back to Florida. They need someone to stick it out, someone with a longterm perspective. They need someone with NW ties or U of O ties.

Hire a guy who wants to be in Eugene instead of hiring guys who you know will eventually leave to dream jobs in far better locations. Maybe Wilcox is the guy. Peterson was sick of dealing with 18-22 year olds when he left UW. Doubt that has changed with NIL,transfer portal, and the rest of the outside stuff he likely dislikes
