These bracket guesses are a little silly at this point.

I think it is fun to see the cross the country teams play each other early. There is a lot of hype in this. Particularly if the teams are mature and ready for these games. Some are not. There are a lot of really competitive match ups going on early between the top 20 teams. This sells girls basketball indeed. Other then that it can be used to predict things about the teams winning these games that are premature. I’m happy several pac 12 teams are playing east coast teams already. Oregon UCLA Stanford and the beavs are set to mix it up With these rated teams. Should be fun to watch. Stanford girls have a game against an up and coming south Florida team sometime this week.

These bracket guesses are a little silly at this point. "Guesses" about the future are silly in converse proportion to the rigor and the intelligence that went into creating them. Which is to say, the more coherent the defense of the "guess" the less silly it becomes. The less coherent the defense, the more silly it becomes. Ultimately, of course, it is arbitrated by it's accuracy. (Predictive power). If you think bracketology is silly, try reading the economic and political prognostications for next March. GO BEAVS!!

Anyone notice that when you click on any team name, it goes to the men's info? Or is it just me ?

I kind of disagree. I think at this point of the season they're silly regardless of the "rigor and intelligence" applied to create them. Maybe even more so (the more rigor and intelligence, the sillier).

You are a “l don’t want all the fluff sort of guy” It is kind of like the whole star rating argument. What is your feelings about Massey ratings?

I think after the teams have played a little and started to build their season resumes it's interesting to see how a computer program like Massey's ranks them. I don't even try to dig-in and understand the methodology because for me, it's just entertainment. And when I say something is "silly" that's not necessarily a harsh judgment. There is an inherent element of silliness baked-in to being a sports fan. So I plead guilty.

Rankings/Bracketology is all hype until we get into conference season play--at which point rankings seems a bit more rational. I really don't think these AP & Coach's Polls should start until conference play begins. Preseason polls unfairly advantage some teams and disadvantage others

Rankings/Bracketology is all hype until we get into conference season play--at which point rankings seems a bit more rational. I really don't think these AP & Coach's Polls should start until conference play begins. Preseason polls unfairly advantage some teams and disadvantage others Pre-season, early season polls offer advantages and disadvantages only in the respective polls. The end of the season records, performances, and committee determine the most important part of the season, tourney bracketing. A pre-season poll/ranking has zero bearing (ad or disad) on a team's end result. Other than the NET these prognostications and polls are for entertainment value only... for fans. I guarantee coaches pay zero attention to them as their scouting reports tell them everything they need to know. I can also safely say that most polls have never seen most of the teams listed actually play a complete game. They are a lot like recruiting rankings... word of mouth, reputation, a few key highlights, randomized outstanding performances against other supposedly rated players. To some, a meaningful way to pass the time and have conversations. To others, meaningless drivel that can lead to some comical discourse... try listening to an uck fan talk recruiting rating/classes with a straight face!?

Hmmm, interesting way to keep the Pac-12 from embarrassing the rest of the country. Send half of the Pac to Spokane and no one to Bridgeport. Keeps Uconn safe this time.

Speaking of UConn, nice to see them embarrassed early. They were about as competition be vs SC as we were last year.
