I was talking to a duck friend of mine about the beat down the ducks took in Utah.
He said he was actually glad and relieved the ducks lost because now it saves him the hassle of figuring out logistics and attending the CFP game and then the NC game.
Going to the last two NC games were a huge PITA according to him, and didn't want to deal with it again.
Just found it to be comical and classically duckish.

I wonder what he feels about missing the conference championship game? That's gonna happen too.

I think that's called "sour grapes."

What it really save him is getting totally embarrassed on a much bigger stage. He knew his team didn’t belong in the playoffs - any fans that follow football knew that. Winning at Ohio State was quite the feat - and if they went back there next week, the score would instead look like the Michigan State game.
So it indeed was pained saved - Utah saves him from spending the money and travel time to watch his team get waxed. Utah delivered that gift early. And if they play like that again vs OSU, he’ll likely get another view of the same from his home seat.

And - that ‘spin’ will always be their crying towel. However, I think it points to an ongoing problem with recruiting hype vs actual performance ! I cannot find It again, but. apparently, prior to taking the field in Utah, coach Crystalballs said; ‘ This will be a fight and we are ready !’ Hey Mario, your approach to recruiting and the offense is NOT going to get you your cherished ‘Natty’ ! Yes, you could get to the CFP agaiin, but, you will get there only because of NIKE ! Two major problems 1) Prima Donna recruits that are playing only to hit the NFL jackpot, and 2) Your ‘conservative’ ( boring ) offense is pretty easy for a really good team to scheme against Tell Nemec that a ‘top ranked, 5 star recruiting class, does not guarantee anything . You need a TEAM that understands teamwork .

And I think most of their fans, or at least most that I know, have understood this deep down all along but really WANTED to believe that this team could continue to "win the day" in spite of what their eyes were telling them just about every Saturday.

UO and Michigan State were the most overrated one-loss teams in the country. They got their just reward. Now it's Alabama's turn next.

Alabama has been overrated at No. 2 from the start. No other team in the country could lose to unranked A&M and still start at No. 2. I think Ohio State would clean Alabama's clock. I think Cincinnati beats them, maybe even Okie State and Notre Dame. As much as I despise the Irish, they are pretty good. I'm hoping they lose to Auburn and then get boatraced by Georgia.

You have duck friends? I kid....i have a few....even though I don't trust em! This is totally a duck fan thing to say. And some folks wonder why we hate the ducks so much. Their fans have zero self awareness! They beg to be hated!

You need a TEAM that understands teamwork . I really hate this take. First of all you have to work your ass off to even become good enough to be a 5 star recruit. Secondly we would be absolutely thrilled to get a 5 star recruit just once in program history (I can't think of a single one off the top of my head). It's all of the UO fans that we all know that are prima donnas and the ones that make us hate the Ducks. Their kids and coaches work just as hard and care just as much as ours do and we'd love them if they were Beavers (assuming they had never been covered with that Duck stink to taint our opinion of them).

They may get the chance to play and then we'll find out. Oklahoma State? Lost to a 6-5 Iowa State team, so guess I'm not a big believer there. I share your feelings about Notre Dame, hard as it is to say. They won't lose to Auburn, but Georgia will be tough.
