I did notice that Artavis Pierce was active for the Bears on Sunday.
He got to run back a kickoff for 27 yards, and he played 3 offensive snaps.
Ryan Nall had 1 offensive snap and 14 special teams. Neither player touched the ball on offense.
Jermar Jefferson saw his first duty of the season getting 9 special teams snaps in the Lions loss to the Bengals this week.

I never question a running back making the jump as early as he can. You only have so many hits in your bones . . . you should get paid for as many as possible.

It is sooo difficult to succeed, in any professional sport , that getting to play and stay in the league (for any length of time), is a real long shot for even the highest rated college athletes. I just finished looking at top Heisman winner failures . To see what they accomplished in college, versus their pro flameouts, you can only surmise that there were several reasons behind the failures ( note ; Terry Baker is one name on the list ). They were, obviously high draft choice numbers - but was that because they would be good for ticket sales - or because they actually were expected to positively impact the team ? Benny's kid is right about the number of hit's a body can take - but that would seem to only play in the decision to leave school early ( which is a more recent phenomenon ). Lot's of QB's on the list , the most 'protected' position on the field ( behind KICKERS and Punters ). Bottom line, for me, is that with the huge bonuses of today - both the teams and the athlete are taking a huge risk on getting what each defines as 'success'. Performance and Durability play a huge role ( of course ), following all team protocols and meeting team established metrics may play equal roles. In Bakers case , the point was made at the time , that he was NEVER given a chance due to the head coach being an ex- duck coach and him having other preferences . Cannot know for sure . Will try to find the write up - in this case Baker did not leave early . What will happen with BJ Baylor this year ? Maybe he just needs to look at what has happened with the recent historical examples . RISK: Reward is definitely higher for both sides - when leaving early . Yes, fewer physical hits / longer NFL career - but , play on the field will have to match all team established criteria ( on and off the field ).

That's what Mandel meant in the anderpants puff piece by "Jake Luton, dual threat QB." Head or tails.

Two of them definitely listened to someone who wanted 10-15% of their earnings. The National Football League states that an agent can't receive more than 3 percent of player salaries. work.chron.com/average-sports-agents-commission-21083.htmlNall, Pierce and Jefferson have been employed by NFL teams ever since leaving OSU. Another year here would have done nothing to improve their NFL status. They have a limited time to earn as a pro football player. They certainly made the right choice.

Josh Andrews has been activated by Atlanta.
Blake Brandel has been activated by Minnesota.

Nall has made $1.6M in his career so far according to sportrac. Jefferson has a base salary this season of $600K and signed a 3 yr/3.5M deal. Pierce has made $700K so far. Definitely better $$ than the Papa's Pizza NIL deal.

It's really impressive that Jake is playing pro ball considering the severe back injury he got playing against WSU. At the time I thought he should hang it up and not risk further damage. Good for him to get as far as he's gotten.

Because everything is above the table when concerning agents.
