Beavers picked T4 with Arizona.
This may mean that were doomed. I don't think we've been picked that high in the preseason for 30 years.

I am trying to figure out if we are good or not. Like, we won those games. they weren't a fluke, or lucky, we legit went out and beat good damn teams and made the elite 8 and we have most those guys back. But at the same time, the path to the Pac-12 tourney wasn't an easy one... It is going to be an interesting season. The highest expectations this team has had in 30 years, easily.

(Technically, Oregon State was tied for fourth, but the Beavers finished three games back of the Trojans in overall record. USC was invited to the NIT and made it to that tournament's Elite Eight.) That was something of a bounce-back year after the terrible 1991-92 campaign. The bottom would fall out in 1993-94 after Scott Haskin graduated.

Chad Scott could have come back as a 5th yr Senior, but he flunked out and then robbed a pizza delivery man at gunpoint. They also lost Charles Mckinney and Mustapha Hoff. The 93-94 team was bad, but it got worse after Brent graduated. The worst team of that era was the 95-96 team who won 4 games and was led by local legend JD Vetter averaging a whopping 10 pts/game.

I arrived at OSU in '93, with big dreams of The Orange Express experience. The JD Vetter years have been life-long scars.

I met Vetter very briefly during my Fr. year at Univ. of Puget Sound when he took a recruiting visit there. My next door neighbor in the dorm was the stud bball player at UPS for 4 years (Matt Droege).

But at least he looked like Tom Cruise... got us some publicity.

92nd? Holy crud. Maybe this will be a little extra for the team as was the pre-season 12th in the Pac12 prediction last season was. I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm thinking a middle outcome will be around somewhere like 45th in the country - a bubble team.
