I'm not sure what other fans' opinions on "good" vs "great" or don't have to game plan for them, but Cate is very good. OSU would love to have a experienced big at 6'2" good mobility with: 95 starts 12.2 pts / 6.5 reb in only 26 min/game Less than 2 TOs/game and shoots 48% overall, 35% from three, 78% from the line 2020 & 2021 All-Pac-12 2020 & 2021 Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll Three-time Pac-12 Player of the Week 2020 Katrina McClain Award Finalist 2019 Pac-12 All-Freshman Three-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week 2019 Arizona Athletics Female Freshman of the Year If she's not great, ok. But, I believe she's got better career numbers and consistency than any OSU returner?? It's a big deal for Zona that she's returning and a negative for their opponents. She suffers from being very inconsistent. At her best, she's very, very good. She can get you a 20/10 type game at any given time. But she can also disappear.
Taylor Jones' scoring average is about the same, higher rebounding average and higher FG%. She doesn't shoot 3's at all unlike Reese. I think Jones is more consistent, she just has to avoid foul trouble so she can stay on the court.
Reese's numbers her Jr. year in scoring, rebounding and FG% were all career lows, kind of disappointing for an upperclassman. We'll see if she bounces back this season.

I agree with nwhoopfan that Rees' game is inconsistent. She's very good, but not a super-star. Let's not forget that she has been named All-Pac-12 for the past 2 years, and she was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after scoring a season-high 25 points on 11-14 shooting at Oregon. Really, there are only a few players in the Pac with her credentials.....
Part of her inconsistency, in my view, is that the past two years she has played on a totally guard-dominated team, with a dynamo, once a decade, MVP type player (Aari McDonald) basically running the show. Rees was rarely (almost never) the first or 2nd choice on UA offensive sets last year. She's a scrapper and a fighter and tough on the boards - the kind of player a lot of us here at Benny's really like.
I'm saying this from memory (without double checking) but I think Rees was the highest rated recruit ever brought to Arizona when she signed. My guess is that Barnes is VERY happy to have her on the roster this season. Personally, I wish she had gone somewhere else rather than return to the Wildcats. GO BEAVS!!!

Rueck described Kampschroeder as a combination of Pivec and Tudor. I'll take that!

Lets not forget, Cate is a type 1 diabetic. She's been hospitalized a couple times (or more) on road trips during competition. We would all probably be a little inconsistent dealing with that and trying to play a high level Basketball as well.

She was ranked # 12 by Hoopgurlz while in high school.
