This team has seemed to play better on the road recently, so gives me hope. This game really has me worried though. It just feels like Rolovich still has a grudge against our staff and I expect to see their defense and their fans fired up looking for a mild upset to turn the season around. They win, and they have a decent shot at getting bowl eligible.

Jim Wilson on the JoeBeaver radio show loves the match-up of our offense against their defense. We may have a few negative plays, but expects us to get back on track on offense. It's our defense on their offense is where we will win or lose this game. Can't let WSU be two dimensional. Slow the run and make their quarterback best us with him arm. We've been pretty strong against the run. If Wazzu can get their pass game going, we might have a long night. But nothing gives me any sign that they will be that fortunate. We will control LOS and put pressure on DeLaura. He's going to have a long night.

I was initially somewhat worried about this game, but after reviewing posts from you and vhalum92(he reviewed the Cal- WSU game, I haven't yet) I'm feeling more confident. The Cougs are going to be fired up, but can they sustain it for 60 minutes. We will soon find out. A quick note on De Laura, make him throw the ball deep is what Coug fans say is his weakness. He's inaccurate on longer throws according to their message board. (Can't verify, haven't seen them yet) Come noon this Saturday I'll be smoking cigarettes and drinking Budweiser. We our 2-0 in the Pac 12 since I started this routine, so I'm sticking with the superstition. Never f%#* with a winning streak- Crash Davis

It’s a trap game if I ever saw one. I am uneasy on this game for a little bit of the trap game reason (though I think Smith does a real good job of keeping the team grounded) and because Pullman has usually been some kind of voodoo hex on us. We have lots of bad losing streaks and examples out there, but Pullman really seems to be the place where we like to lose when we SHOULD win. Several notable examples out there, and often times it is just some weird bulls%#t happening to us. We SHOULD win, and win pretty handily... I feel like this team is different. They’ve finally learned how to win. I love this team and I like them to win the game-going away.

Even when things got tough and momentum seemed to switch, we kept right at it. That’s a quality not often associated with Beaver football.

Borghi had a bad ankle in the USC-WSU game. He had a tough time making any quick cuts. deLaura didn’t start the second half against USC. The cameras showed him sitting on the bench taking hit after hit of what looked like old time smelling salts and repeatedly slapping himself in the face. He played late in the game, but he wasn’t the same QB as he was in the early part of the game. Purely speculation, but I think he had cobwebs floating around. This might also explain his absence from the WSU trip to Utah.

We are -3.5 at the coogs. That doesn't sound like a line where we should cruise to an easy victory. Every week is going to be a battle. This isn't Ando pants' Beavs, but we still have a lot of work to do. Chance Nolan is going to have to prove that he's consistent behind center. He plays on the palouse, like he did at home against u dub, we likely lose.

I watched their game against Cal last night. Thought their OL pass blocks well and the DL has some decent edge rushers. Also Cal QB Garbers looked worse than he did against UW the prior week. So I anticipate a tough game, with a fired up group of Cougs trying to get their season on track. Go Beavs and pound the cougs!

Good insight....I honestly haven't watched the coogs more than a few snaps this season. I do, however, remember de Laura making a mockery of our defense last season at Reser. At least we have film and prep time on him now. I'm sure Rolovich would love nothing more than to beat Smith's "on the rise" Beavs as I'm sure he's still pissed about the recruiting snafu/incident, whatever it was, when he was Hawaii HC. All I know is, it's fun to have a team that isn't getting blown out! I'm trying to keep my expectations in check....being competitive in conference is all I can ask for.....exceed that, it's all gravy baby!

It’s a trap game if I ever saw one. What is the definition of a trap game? Isn't it looking ahead to the next opponent, which for us is a BYE week? They still have the kids watch "tape" correct... so they saw WSU hold Cal to 6 points at Cal? The UW win was nice, but we were favored. I think our players would admit they didn't play there best game against UW... so getting back to work at practice to clean things up should have been the clear motivation. Not trying to argue but I thought a trap game was getting a big win, usually an upset and having a another big game in 2 weeks that is stealing your attention from your game this week. Just doesn't seem to fit the formula. I think this game is about responding to the bad taste in our mouth of 2 turnovers, a pour passing effort and needing to shore up our run defense after a close win vs UW.

I see both points here.....maybe a "let down" game after B2B wins against schools who have mostly owned us, historically? If results so far are to be counted on, we should be able to go in, control the LOS, and pound the rock, from the get-go. That's best case scenario and then we go from there.......sometimes what should happen doesn't, especially on the road with a relativley inexperienced (at this level) QB, coming off a pretty poor outing......but this is where coaching comes in......putting our guys in a position to succeed. I don't see a lot of over the top bombs like we saw at USC.....at least not intitially. Although, you don't want to come out too vanilla.....I imagine the first couple drives will be run and run some more with a couple Colletto drive extending conversions.....why not? No one has stopped it even when they know it's coming....and now hes handing it off too!
