Seeding is far from perfect and guarantees nothing. It is kinda why you still play the tournament!
That's why I asked the question as to where the SEC and ACC teams were seeded. They had a lot of teams in, but if a lot of them barely got in, them being eliminated is understandable. If they were highly seeded and didn't survive, then the opinion of the conference was too high.
I don't think it's too hard to follow.
National Seeds: #2 Louisville, #3 Miami, and #7 Clemson
Regional Hosts: Florida State, NC State, and Virginia
#2 seed Georgia Tech
#3 seeds: Boston College, Duke, and Wake Forest
SEC teams:
National Seeds: #1 Florida, #4 Texas A&M, #6 Mississippi State, and #8 LSU
Regional Hosts: Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt
Duke went 0-2, losing to UNC Wilmington by 10 runs.
Ole Miss went 0-2, losing to Tulane and Utah.
Vanderbilt went 0-2, losing to Xavier by 14.
Virginia went 1-2, losing to East Carolina and William & Mary (Oregon State beat the same team by nine runs on a neutral field this year).
Wake Forest went 1-2, losing to Texas A&M by 20 and Minnesota by 5.
Clemson went 2-2, losing twice to Oklahoma State by a combined score of 21-4. (Otherwise, Clemson beat 4-seed Western Carolina twice.)
Georgia Tech went 2-2, losing twice to Florida.
NC State went 3-2, losing twice to Coastal Carolina.
LSU went 3-3. LSU won two-of-three against Rice to win the regional but lost in two home games against Coastal Carolina.
South Carolina went 4-3, climbing out of the loser's bracket to beat UNC Wilmington in three games. Oklahoma State swept them in Columbia.
Louisville went 3-2. Louisville was impressive in three regional games but got swept by UCSB in two games at home in the Super Regionals.
Mississippi State went 3-2. Mississippi State was even more impressive in three home regional games but got swept by Arizona in two games at home in the Super Regionals.
Boston College went 4-2. Boston College nipped Utah and went 1-2 against Super Regional host Miami.
Florida State went 4-2. Florida State was impressive in three games in Tallahassee but lost in three games to Florida.
Texas A&M went 4-2. Texas A&M feasted on bubble teams Minnesota and Wake Forest, beating the two a combined 30-4. They lost to TCU in three games.
Florida went 5-1. Florida feasted on Georgia Tech in the Gainesville Regional championship game but dominated Florida State in the last two games in the Super Regionals, winning by a combined 12 runs.
Miami went 5-1. The Hurricanes beat Long Beach State twice by a run (once in the 11th) to advance. They largely dominated Boston College in a three game set in Coral Gables.
Duke was the worst ACC team in and did not deserve a bid, but the Blue Devils were a feel-good story. Duke had not made the postseason in 55 years.
Vanderbilt and Virginia should not have been regional hosts. Arizona and Coastal Carolina should have been.
