Could be interesting. All I really know about them is that they gave Stanford everything they could handle before losing by 5 last year (an overall pretty good year for Stanford), they play in the WAC where they've been very successful, and they were a D II power prior to that. Talking about the Stanford game, one of the Cal Baptist players described her team as short and without a true post player. Maybe they're real quick, shoot well, have good fundamentals, and are real pesky - like Japan against Team USA. Sounds like the type of opponent that, if you take them for granted, you could walk off the court with an L.

I would bet no, Cal Baptist is a bit too good for that game. The classroom game is more of an Idaho St quality opponent. Idaho State would also likely qualify as being “too good” for that game. It’s typically a team that is lower than 200 on the RPI/NET ratings, if not lower. I'm hoping we don't have any games where the OSU opponent is < 200 RPI/Net rating.

Cal Baptist nearly went undefeated last year. They were ineligible to participate in the NCAA Tourney because of the recentness of moving up from D2. Their PG was injured during the NIT (national assist leader IIRC), I think they lost their first game of the season in the semi-finals. Or maybe it was quarter finals. Losing their PG was a huge blow though.
That must've been a previous season when they played Stanford. Their strength of schedule was fairly weak, but they just kept beating whoever they were up against.

Cal Baptist was 26 - 1 (won WAC conf), while Idaho St was 22 - 4 (won the Big Sky conf). Both are really good teams; I'd pick OS to win, but they should be very good tests.

The highest ranked team they beat was 90th ranked USF. The only other team they played ranked above 100 was #93 New Mexico. The highest ranked team they played in-conference was #198 Grand Canyon U. masseyratings.com/cbw2021/1026

Although, the coaches won't be overlooking them. Thanks for sharing the MasseyRatings site! Interesting information there -- Beavs had the #3 Strength of Schedule (Utah had #1, WSU #2 SoS).

Strength of schedule for last year is pretty meaningless. It was a function of what program was shut down when you were supposed to play them.

I wonder how far along the Beavs are with their schedule. Obviously getting a schedule together for west coast teams can be a struggle.

Kinda related, I randomly saw that Louisville has Arizona and Washington on their schedule for 21-22, but both of those Pac 12 schools have nothing showing on their websites.

Cal Baptist didn’t play Stanford last season. They played the season before. I think I see a trend developing here. Cal Baptist plays a PAC 12 team; that team goes on to win the very next NCAA championship! That works for me.
