From tonight's Knights' story:
"Second baseman Travis Bazzana (Oregon State) was 4-for-4 with a walk and reached safely in all five plate appearances. He doubled twice, scored twice and raised his WCL-leading average to .442; he is 7-for-8 (.875) in the series, with three doubles and five runs scored.
Bazzana also started an inning-ending double play in the top of the ninth with a diving catch of a bases-loaded line drive, preventing a potential go-ahead base hit. He flipped to shortstop Riley Way (Lewis-Clark State) for the third out."
He can play.

He is putting up Adley type numbers and stats . Not a typical second baseman type of performance ( offensively ) ! Should be VERY STRONG up the middle and at the top half of the order next year ! I am pumped - hope we get the pitching performance that was so lacking last year !

The competition at SS should be very interesting. Dernedde may move from 4 to 6 after showing some very nice development late in the season. Kyle has arrived. Myro may get a long look at SS but can also project nicely at 3B. His good bat may put him in the mix. Boyd was placed in the OF because he was needed there - we recruit few outfielders, preferring to convert HS shortstops to outfielders (McDowell and Reed being exceptions),but he could return to the skin. He has played SS his entire baseball life. Freshman Jabin Trosky will compete, he has a sterling reputation for glovework and he makes plays rarely seen at the HS level - his bat will be key. Mason Guerra has played a lot of SS at Westview but pro scouts say his future is on a corner - Mason's bat/power are the best in our '21 recruiting class.
These guys won't compete for the SS job, but they have all played the position at some point in their young careers. McMahan, Gretler, J. Dukart, Meckler, and Kasper. I'm not certain Mascarenas is still with us, and if he is, include him.

Also, a little extra punch on the offensive side of the ball will help alleviate some of the pitching pressure...if ya know what I mean.

As everyone knows ,the Aussies love to use very different nicknames for virtually everything that exists .The French are 'froggies', a Mercedes is a Merc ( which I assumed was a Mercury ), soccer is Footies and a compliant secretary is a Sheila , and so on . Bazzana is a pretty good name , all by itself .... but, it presents lot's of Opportunities. An easy one is Banana - but , that may not have too much ap- peel ! What do you get when you cross a banana with a Beaver ? That can go a number of different directions - so, I won't offend anyone How about walk up songs ; He comes from the landdown under ' Seems we have a wealth of talent that is going to require both a nickname and a musical intro.Start now, it's going to be a fun year ! Go Beavers,!

From tonight's game story:
Bazzana extended his hitting streak to 17 games against WCL opponents. He has 14 multi-hit games, is batting .533 (40-75) during the streak, and has raised his average 81 points to a WCL-best .449 over that span. His last hitless game was July 4 at Ridgefield.
I saw Kat Tudor at the game. She was having fun.

Was at the Knights game last night too and was impressed with him as a hitter. Good eye at the plate too. Excited to see how this incoming class contributes in 2022.
