Texas and OU have spoken to the SEC about joining their league. First step toward a super league full of schools with big enough (read that money) fan bases to drive the NIL to a level most teams can’t compete with. Beavers and other non power- power conference schools will be relegated to secondary status. Realistically we probably are already a second tier team but the new league will kill the dream.

Well, at least that would seem to ease any chances of SC bolting to the Big 12. The Pac-12 has to get their revenue problems fixed or we will lose our brand teams.

It's not hard to imagine the formation of a new "Division 1" (whatever title you want to use) where the moneyed programs leave the rest behind but still condescend to play the lesser-moneyed programs during out of conference games. Probably only 40-50 teams in that upper division and probably only 4-5 from the West.

Report is UT and OU reached out. But no mention of traction. Not discussed inside SEC and A&M is against it…. Of course. I see this actually as opportunity for our new commish…. If SEC isn’t there… come to PAC…. new media deal coming…. Our commish has to be aggressive in repairing the macro damage done to League by Scott….. This looks like opportunity to me.

What a terrible time to have a Pac-12 Commissioner, who is in his second full week on the job. Scott was close to pulling off the Pac-16, and the conference would be in a 100% better position to try and pull it off this time, if Scott were still at the helm. There appears to be at least some traction. Texas A&M is already lobbying against it. And Oklahoma State is already trying to figure out a way to stamp this out.

Maybe the Larry Scott from 5 years ago would have been in a better position, but the current state of Larry Scott seems so far the reserrvation in his last couple years at the helm, that I am VERY excited that there is a new guy in there, specificallyf or a moment like this.

Texas loves its dominant place in the Big XII essentially operating under its own rules with its own sports network. Not sure the SEC would be down with that setup. But I guess if they can make the $$ work out, that's all that matters.

At least we are still in a stable place for now - you'd hate to be most of the other BIG XII schools right now - with no big TV markets to sell to other conferences.

Well… if this whole thing transpires…. Texas and OU accepted into SEC… a big if but more possible now…. with A&M approval or not…. Likely not… It changes everything and the PAC will not survive as constituted …. And bringing marginal schools from remnants of big 12, nor other schools… won’t help.

Texas and Oklahoma skipped the Big 12 Conference call tonight, the other eight schools were there and released a statement. Starting to feel like this is a done deal.

Always surprising to me how fast the ground can shift under one's feet.

SEC is completely taking over college athletics Actually, this will decrease Texas's and Oklahoma's influence. Much harder time for them to reach the CFP out of the SEC than the s%#tty Big 12.
