I mean I guess, but again, it's really his business. There's a thing called HIPAA, which we aggressively enforce.....until we dont HIPPA has nothing to do with this. HIPPA prohibits others from disclosing your medical condition without your consent. It most certainly does not prevent Rolovich from disclosing his own medical condition, should he wish to do so. Vice-president Harris said she would not trust Trump's word on the vaccine, but she would trust the medical professionals. As soon as the medical professionals deemed the vaccination was safe, she got vaccinated. So did Biden. So did Trump. It's PHI whether he decides to do it or not...it's really no one's biz.....although if the university requires the vax, they can part ways with him if chooses to not vax

If someone's behavior poses a demonstrable health hazard to others, then the public has every right to curb that behavior. Non-vaxers who continue to circulate through society are willfully subjecting themselves and others to possible infection with a debilitating and sometimes deadly virus. No one has the right to do that anymore than they have right to yell "fire!" in a crowded theatre. So long as he poses a serious health threat to his team and WSU students in general, Rolovich should quarantine himself and restrict his movement to his own home. Failing that, he royally deserves to be canned.

A smart person would have just said this. I mean I guess, but again, it's really his business. There's a thing called HIPAA, which we aggressively enforce.....until we dont Others have corrected your stance on HIPAA and at least one other poster addressed the point that this guy is a leader of youth and should be setting a great example for these guys. Not to mention that he's one of, if not the, highest paid public employees in the State of Washington. He should be held to a higher standard than you and I. He's also an employee of an educational and research institution that has a strong science programs. To my knowledge, WSU is requiring the covid vax for all students and employees, with very few exceptions. If he has a legit exception, he should step up and let the citizens of Washington (and the guys he's responsible for) know what that is reason is.

My take - I don't see any other reason for Rolovich's statement other than politics. Maybe, but maybe if I buy a lottery ticket I'll become a zillionaire. I think WSU has been happy with him. He's been there two years? After a few minutes of thought, I think what the stance of WSU should be is an ultimatum. Be fully vaccinated by September 1 or you will be fired for cause. And in the interim, the university should start a replacement search.

Thanks for posting this article. As much as I "hate" Barry Bolton, he articulates all the points I tried to make in my response to the beav angler.

Do these people need to be vaxxed? Seems like there's not a consensus.
Anecdotally, I know someone in their 20's who developed cardiomyopathy from the vaccine and almost died.....luckily, being young, and fit, they pulled through.....but there are risks....the chances of it happening are small, but the chance is there.

So what's the better plan? Use our resources to protect the vulnerable, those unable to take the shot and are a health risk. Community outreach to engage the Black/Hispanic population with information from sources they trust. This goes back a ways, should have started it last year. Bipartisan endorsement from high profile members of both parties. Make the vaccine available to everyone and let them decide what’s best for them and their families. Yes, there will be some tragic deaths from people that could have been saved. We already have those deaths now. Individuals will quickly see the benefits from vaccinations and those will fall quickly. "will quickly see." You're splitting your infinitive.

My .02 First of all, I'm vaccinated... Last time I checked, these things are no one else's business. I only announced that I am vaxxed so the mob in this thread won't accuse me of being an anti vaxxer. Although, I'm prolly on ignore by most of the mobbish ones in here anyway....haha Maybe the dude had an anaphylactic reaction to another vaccine??? Some of y'all are insane......like a full on lynch mob with pitchforks and s%#t.....these kinds of threads tell me who I'd sit down and have a beer with.....the list is getting smaller. "Maybe the dude had an anaphylactic reaction to another vaccine." Nope. Other vaccines include either alive or dead virus. These COVID vaccines use mRNA.

Sure, I get that.....but if you've had an anaphylactic reaction to another vaccine might make you hesitant to get another one....and maybe he's allergic to all kinds of s%#t and just doesn't want to take the chance, I dunno. The point being y'all have tarred, feathered, and executed the man already over one social media post. I'm not saying there's definitely a good explanation for his choice, but there might be something more than he's just anti-vax

Breakthrough cases have happened and people have died. Kids can't get the vaccine yet. Some 5 year old just died in Georgia a couple days ago.
Somebody has to set a bad example? Ouch. 600k people have already set that example, yet half the rubes in some states still won't get the vaccine. How many is it going to take before it clicks with these idiots?
I think a certain political party with have many fewer voters in November 2022. This is the part of the argument I DON'T understand. Trump i vaccinated, was so very early on. He has encouraged his base to get vaccinated many times. The vaccine should be, and (to trump at least) seens a HIS victory, the REPUBLICANS victory. Trump and a GOP led congress were the one's that pushed the vaccine to be created, gave the pharm companies a whole bunch of money to reesearch it, test it, and garunteed sales of it even if it didn't work, the Trump appointed FDA chair made sure to get the vaccines both fully tested, but also tested as quickly as possible... So if this is a political issue only, Trump supporters and republicans should be leading the "The Covid Vaccines are great" chants!! No, this has very little to do with politics, it is all about the media and the spin they put on things.

I really think it is a personal decision. Many Young people do not need the Virus and the risk could be greater. So many of You leftists lack common sense prriod. I got the shot in March as did my Wife the Johnson ands Johnson shot. Our choice. I also tested positive for COVID and have symptoms. I have been careful but even so got exposed. So I have pause as to why? Seems arguments are not kind hearted and I can just shzje my head at some of you people. Not fun getting it and not fun isolating for up to 6 weeks.

A six page discussion about a rival coach probably just afraid of getting a shot (the most common reason people don't go get the vaccine). These are slow news times.

Finding the truth in all of this BS is getting harder by the day. How do 6 Texas dems, who were reportedly vaccinated, test positive for Covid after flying on a junket to D.C. unmasked? Were they lying about their vaccine status? Is the efficacy of the vaccine not what has been reported? Something smells. Now they are talking about going back to mask mandates.....
I got the shots and I don't want to wear a mask.........Am I protected?? I don't know what to believe anymore. And that is part of the problem.
Rant over.....GO Beavs!!!

"In 1905, the U.S. Supreme Court had called for just such deference in Jacobson v. Massachusetts. In the midst of a small-pox outbreak, local authorities could mandate vaccination on penalty of a fine for refusal: 'Upon the principle of self-defense, of paramount necessity, a community has the right to protect itself against an epidemic of disease which threatens the safety of its members.'"
