Obviously, you've been reading the Japanese newspapers, eh? So you've seen the reports out of Tokyo. And you have your pulse on how the nation feels--not the politicians, the people. You've seen that the Ugandans arrived in Tokyo with the Delta variant back in June? And the South Africans? And so on. So you knew that the composer of the opening ceremony music was fired for bullying mentally challenged kids when he was in high school. You knew that it upset the nation to learn that he had tied them up, forced them to masturbate, and fed them s%#t (literally). And you knew that the director of the opening ceremony was fired just a few days ago for having made jokes about the Holocaust? Controversy and a global pandemic. Mmmm. Best Olympic brew ever! PS. I don't care about your "stance." Honestly. I really couldn't care less. I still believe the games should have been cancelled. PPS. Regardless what you may believe about me, if the games had gone on as scheduled last year (i.e., no Covid) I would have been in Tokyo watching them with my family. Understood. You feel like you feel and have the opinions you have with a solid basis to back it up. No one else with any semblance of intelligence could possibly have their own set of opinions that is contrary to yours. It just isn’t possible.(Most of those reasons you give seem to be problems of Japan, not the Olympics. I know you are very connected to the Japanese. It’s a good thing we don’t think all Japanese are abusive to the mentally challenged or anti-Semitic. Wouldn’t want to paint a whole set of people because of the sins of a few.) You don’t really feel that good about yourself deep down and can’t put a finger on it. Anyone else that does have joy, or happiness, or peace in their life that you already have decided cannot be “smart” (due to them having a differing opinion than you) must be corrected. Tear that person down in any way you can. You brought up we had offline discussions. I tried to show you that there is a basis for people of different thoughts and opinions to come together. You choose to continue to degrade and try to embarrass me in the open forum, attack me as a person. Why? Can’t you engage without the negative? When brought to your attention, you back it up with the stronger stance of not caring. If you spent more time and energy working on enriching your own life, than trying to tear down the lives of others, your world and by extent the world as a whole would be a better place. Isn’t that ultimately what you are really looking for? The mirror must not be your friend. Truly is sad for you. This is 100% false. But it fits your view of me, so go with it. No big deal. My point of view has always been that THIS year's Olympics should not have been held. I'm not attacking the Japanese (don't know how you thought that) and I'm not attacking the Olympics. Simply the IOC and the money-making scheme. Money, once again, wins over doing the right thing. Your understanding of me is wrong. And it would be very helpful for you to look in a mirror. You like to paint yourself as a non-aggressor, but that's not the case at all. Reread the initial message you sent me in this thread and tell me honestly how I was supposed to take it when it comes from a person who has repeatedly posted snide comments at me on the board? I absolutely did not bring up the "conversations" we had together. It was a nice attempt by you only because you wanted me to be like you in some way. My views don't match yours. Is that a problem? Apparently. No big deal. I don't fault you for your beliefs, but you frequently fault me for mine. Nice.

Bro, the animosity is all from your side. I stand by my words(especially the original post) and take another look at your response. I’m not the nail to you carrying a hammer all the time. Why continue to attack me as a person? Paint me as your “bad American”.(whatever that is). Shake yourself and be open to moving on from things. Gnawing a bone forever will only give you ulcers. Again, why attack me? I’m not attacking you. Maybe some maturity on your part would bring some value to the board, and more importantly to your life. Continue to try to bully me into submission all you want. Enlightenment only comes to those that are open to it and truly seek it out.
Again, I originally mentioned some of the stories that ALWAYS come out of the Olympics(that I look forward to) are from athletes from the host country. Glad there are a few already during this Olympiad.

So to interrupt your Bro fight, but on a positive note, future Beav Jade Carey made the individual finals in both floor and vault today.

In your opinion. I’m looking forward to a lot of different competitions. I also like the pride most athletes show in competing for their country.(not just USA athletes). Host countries always have unexpected athletic stories. No one is forcing you to watch. If it’s not your thing, that’s OK. Why make the negative commentary? How does that do anything positive for you? It must be nice to live in a bubble which the problems of the world cannot penetrate. Perfect child of American culture. Sit and watch the TV. Look at the pretty colors. I know it's like thousands of miles away so it doesn't matter to you, but most Japanese wanted the Olympics canceled. From articles earlier in the year, the Olympic Committee seemed not to give Japan a choice, and of course the Prime Minister didn't try hard enough. And you probably don't know that the Japanese government did not OK any of the vaccines until very late spring, so many Japanese are still waiting for the vaccine. Roll out has been very slow. And reports of athletes in Tokyo with Covid have been plentiful. Add to that the athletes from America who brag about not getting the vaccine before going to Japan, and perhaps you can see why Japanese people didn't want the games held. Another side note, in 1964 when the Olympics were held in Tokyo for the first time, they were held in October. Why? Crazy levels of heat and humidity in July and August. But not this year. Why? Well, October is football season in America. So it's about the networks selling you the viewership. So sit back in your Lay Z Boy, grab a beer and pretzels, and watch the games. That's exactly what they want you to do. “So sit back in your Lay Z Boy, grab a beer and pretzels, and watch the games.” Don't mind if I do. I’ll pass on the beer and pretzels though. Saw an American girl win a gold medal in fencing today. The only fencing I ever watch is when the Olympics roll around. But I enjoyed the specific skills on display.

As I’ve said, I have no problem with the games themselves. It’s simply unfortunate that they are being held in a pandemic and without the approval of the citizens of the hosting country. The Olympics should be a celebration and should allow the host country to strut its stuff. This is not that.

The Olympics should be a celebration and should allow the host country to strut its stuff. This is not that. Do you care to comment on holding the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, despite the ongoing 2015-16 Zika epidemic, even though a majority of Brazilians were opposed to the Olympics? Did I miss your outcry then? In fact, less than three months before the 2016 Olympics, Dilma Rousseff, the leftist President of Brazil, was suspended from the Office of President and would be convicted and removed from office 10 days after the Closing Ceremonies. Michel Temer, the Vice-President, a member of the Brazilian Democratic Party, was the Acting President at the time. Temer was convicted a little more than two months before the Opening Ceremonies for violating campaign election laws and was ruled ineligible to serve as President after the 2018 election. Temer was Brazil's representative at the games. Brazil came out of the Great Recession largely unscathed. But Brazil's economy tanked as a result of the 2014 Commodity Crash, which resulted in the Great Brazilian Recession, which lasted from 2014 into 2018. So, you had President-less Brazil in the middle of their worst economic disaster since at least the late 1990s during an ongoing terrible multinational epidemic, centered in the Amazon jungle. There are often several good reasons to not hold the Olympics. But the Olympics marshal on nevertheless. Enjoy the show, kids. The next one won't be for at least three years (and maybe longer, given how the last 17 months have gone).

I can't say the same for Brazil, and so I didn't feel I had a right to speak out.

Simone Biles hurt herself on a practice vault and removed herself from the team competition in gymnastics. Russia then went on to win the team event. Sad.
