Is in the Transfer Portal per D1baseball’s tracker. Best of luck to him.

Wow. I'm not at all surprised he's not coming back, I would have figured he'd get a chance at a contract though.
He wants to be a firefighter, right? I wonder if he transfers somewhere he can take some additional fire science classes? No clue where that would be.
I think the two incoming freshmen were going to be tough to beat out and I also wonder if he may have been asked to find another opportunity so those guys can develop? The new staff has different ideas about what they want from a position player.

Reminds me of the Maddy Washington situation. Solid contributing player / degree in hand / apparently wants post-graduate degree while playing sport of choice.
In Troy's case, some University is going to get a baller.
I give Gavin Logan the inside track to start at catcher in mid-February 2022.
In other news, another Beav in the portal 'goes home': Jordan Donahue to U. Hawaii

I was thinking a transfer to UC Davis. Good programs for Claunch’s post-baseball career. Close to home. Except for the fact that the entire baseball team including coaches was suspended indefinitely last week.

Seems odd to me. Unless there’s an explanatory message posted somewhere that’s not shown here.

Highly doubt Gavin Logan will be starting catcher next year. But maybe he makes the Luke leap from one year to next…. A couple promising new guys coming in, it’s an open position.

Highly doubt Gavin Logan will be starting catcher next year. But maybe he makes the Luke leap from one year to next…. A couple promising new guys coming in, it’s an open position. Wouldn't be Surprised (no pun intended) if Gavin Logan started Game 1 in mid-Feb, but also would not be surprised if Tanner Smith is starting by mid-March. Of 4 candidates, 3 are currently playing in the same summer league (WCL): Gavin Logan .743 OPS / Tanner Smith .679 OPS / Wilson Weber .648 OPS. Daniel Pruitt is with the Medford Rogues this summer (.225 batting average)....None of which means a hell of a lot. In both Canham seasons the Beavs had 4 catchers on the roster (though only 3 had playing time each season). Following the 2020 season, Ben Steck (who did not play) moved on to Everett CC. Fall ball 2021 and late-January/February 2022 will set the table.
