Draft is complete. Please ignore this list if you're not really bored.
It's a weird theoretical list (not a batting order) of who COULD start for Beavs next season, using only 2021 Roster players who saw significant action in 2021:
Pitchers: Hjerpe, Frisch, Pfennigs, Mundt, Verburg Catcher: Claunch 1B: Melton/Forrester 2B: Ober SS: Dukart 3B: Gretler LF: Joe Casey CF: McMahan RF: Meckler DH: Fuchs/Melton/Forrester

I'm gonna be pretty disappointed if Casey and McMahan are starting next year. They have had their shot. Time for new blood.

Joe Casey not coming back is 99%+ true. But, he does have eligibility - That's why I termed the list 'outside-the-box'. And maybe Claunch will sign a FA contract - as undrafted Kenyon Yovan and Gabe Matthews from a few miles south, already have. And Yovan had 1 more year of eligibility (I'm pretty sure - he was listed as a Redshirt Jr. this season).

Kenyon Yovan suffered a season-ending injury in the 2019 opener and was granted a medical redshirt. So, yes, he was a junior.

He is getting to be old with a bad injury history and is a liability in the field. An American League team is about the only spot that he could land. If this was a 30-round draft, I bet that Yovan would have been drafted.

Being 23 without a projectable defensive position didn't help him.

Yes, because there are a lot of American Legion kids that can hit 17 HR's in D-1 ball.....right. He's worth taking a shot on to see if he can improve in the field.

He's worth taking a shot on to see if he can improve in the field. Wes Clarke hit 23 HRs as a catcher: 10th-rounder, pick #297. Niko Kavadas set Notre Dame's home run record with 22 HRs and was a D1Baseball, Baseball America and Perfect Game First-Team All-American: 11th-rounder, pick #316. Bobby Seymour was the ACC Player of the Year in 2019. He hit 21 HRs this year: 13th-rounder, pick #401. Griffin Doersching hit 20 HRs in three fewer games: undrafted. LSU's Gavin Dugas hit 19 HRs and was LSU's starting left fielder: undrafted. Kyle Battle, Mason McWhorter and R.J. Schreck each hit 18 HRs: undrafted. Brandon Lankford hit 17 HRs: undrafted. All power and no glove players are not really in that highly in demand.

Similar to my thinking , however, I would see Reed ( with his speed ), to be a great leadoff hitter! I would also move Melton up in the order so get's as many AB's as possible in any given game.

Bazzana(sp) is hitting .400 leading the league in hitting this summer. Melton hits 3rd in the lineup with his power and speed. Time to move on from Casey. I think Claunch moves on and Ober too. I forgot about Boyd...he starts in the outfield and move Meckler to DH. Hard to remember our whole huge roster.
