We only won two conference games last year, but we started Gebbia who was in his first season as a starter and then he got hurt in the fourth game and we had to turn to Nolan who was in his first year of the program. Despite all of this, the Beavs were in every game of the season and more consistency would have been a big help last year. Now, we most likely have either Gebbia ready to go back from injury or a fifth year, Pac 12 starter. If the defense comes together, I would think we will win 4-5 conference games.

3.5 would be a better line. A 2-7 conference record would be a disaster. Unless there are just an obscene amount of injuries or unless Smitty loses the team, it would be highly unlikely that Oregon State finishes under 2.5 conference wins.

If you're on the outside looking in, the Beavs ride with Gebbia. For Oregon State to win 4-5 games in conference, Gebbia will need to stay healthy all season IMO. I know we have "depth" but the only people who are calling the Beavs deep at QB, are Beaver fans.

Like potential of offense if someone can grab QB position. Don’t have a good vibe on the D. D lines make and break games. We haven’t had a good D line in years. Don’t see anything that changes this year. That’s just me. Hope I’m wrong.

I think the Colorado transfer wins the job in the first week.

A lot of debate can be had. With who we do have or dont have. But If we can’t stop the run…. It’s gonna be awfully hard to get bowl eligible. Again.

Just going by what recruits say about program over and over....family, home.....kids are feeling it! And we are getting kids with options......I mean I'm taking the over all day long cuz even if we don't get it, we should be in a dog fight every game. And with the resiliency weve already seen with Smith era Beav teams, there's no reason to think we shouldn't win a couple or more of the ones we're dogs in.

This is a legit concern.....we don't have the depth on the D line.....but we also could have a potentially very potent offense IF we have good QB play. We have the playmakers and the O line to put up some big numbers.

I’m not too worried about the offense because Smith keeps things interesting. I’d kill for a Beaver team that has a strong defense. Would love to see some shutouts.

If teams average less than 24 points a game against us, we should be bowl bound. I like our offense.

Boy, 24 or less, that’s a huge ask.

Boy, 24 or less, that’s a huge ask. It’s a great goal. I’m not confident that our defense is there yet, but it should be the goal. Let’s get there!

They have talent and experience across the board. An entire starting offensive line returning, big time receiver transfers, 2 good TEs, 3 QBs with starting experience, a deep RB room.
On defense they're solid everywhere aside from DT depth and proven safeties. I don't think they're thin at DE like some people say. You have Hodgins and Sandberg as starters and then behind them Rawls,Reichner, Shippen, Anderson, Lolohea. I think CB will be the next man up between Jones,Wright,or Austin. If Gumbs can stay healthy he could be a difference maker. Schad instantly makes this defense better.
Plus they have a solid kicker finally and a punter that hopefully doesn't shank his kicks.

Boy, 24 or less, that’s a huge ask. The last time that OSU's defense permitted 24 ppg or less was in 2012 when the Beavs were the 22nd ranked scoring defense in the nation. But the program has not had a scoring defense with a ranking better than 82 since.
If the defense improved to 30 ppg scored, we should go bowling - 24 ppg is a huge ask with our defensive personnel and coaching. The offense has been doing well under Smith but the defense has been the big question mark.
