You've all seen the forecasts, but no one in this area has ever experienced 109, the forecast for Sunday in Portland. Expect both extreme heat danger, fire danger and a high potential for an unstable power grid because everyone will be hammering their ac. Be kind, and try to set your ac to 75 or a bit higher. Most people are going to go for lower than that, but wearing lose clothing, drinking plenty of fluids and not overdoing the ac may prevent power problems.
The entire west side of the US from the Rockies to the Pacific is maxing out power, keep everything turned off you can, and do things like laundry late at night or early morning when load levels are a little less. We're hitting uncharted territory here, as a weather weenie I am fascinated, but as a person I know that the Oregon coast is going to be bumper to bumper, and that is talking tushies on the beach, not just car traffic.

What is this "ac" that you talk about?

Take care everyone, keep hydrated. Close up your houses and draw your drapes in the morning.
If the power goes out, remember that most of us have cars with ac. Go for a drive and stay cool.
Keep pets inside and make sure they have a lot of water available to them. Make sure livestock can get out of the sun and also have water available.

Got an email from our commercial property manager. He says expect the AC units (almost brand new) to run 10 degrees behind the settings in this weather - our building is basically a concrete structure with a red metal roof, so it's going to cook. He asked us not to try to turn the AC down any farther because the strain on the units would be too much. As for my AC, I think it is in the first stages of what is going to be a 24/7 adventure. Remember also to turn the ac off and let the fan run for about a half hour on its own to melt ice build up on your chilling coils. Not all people might have this problem but it sure can clog up the works. The air is going to be relatively humid with DP in the 60's a few days, so the chillers can freeze a lot of ice.

This all reminds me of the great Arizona Earthquake of 2015, the biggest earthquake in the Valley of the Sun in the last 15+ years. It was 119 last week, and I walked a mile to go get a sandwich. You guys are going to be fine. Just don't, you know, go for a 15-mile walk without water. That seems to be an Arizona summer tourist MO. One sprained ankle, snakebite or wrong turn and that is basically a death sentence. Oregon generates so much electricity that it is ridiculous to me that you guys would run out, just when you need it. Just do what Arizona and Nevada do and turn off the California line, if things start going sideways. If you do not have a/c, there is no sense toughing it out. Find a lake or stream or something. Remember that, if it does start getting hot, movie theaters usually keep it very cool. Malls also tend to be cool, when it is hot.

What's the humidity level supposed to be? 115 (prediction for Salem) is psycho high but add some humidity and things are really awful.

It is only supposed to be 14% humidity. 115 should feel like 115. There is a slim chance that it could rain between now and then, which would hopefully knock out some of the heat. It is usually weird, though, when it is warmer in the Willamette Valley than in the Valley of the Sun.

Heat wave is unprecedented for my area. I live in Salmon Creek, WA, and I anticipate a high of 115 today. Passed 111 at 1:45.
