A few reports drifting back to Beaver Central - Some of our future recruits are regularly leaving the yard.
Gavin Turley rattled the fences with line drives during his Sophomore year in Utah. Those have now turned into long drives that leave the ballyard. Two of Turley's shots this spring have measured 400' and 415'. Turley has registered a 106.3 exit speed off the barrel, shown a 91 mph arm in CF and has run a 6.58 60 yard dash. The Chandler, AZ-Hamilton Junior outfielder is part of the OSU class of 2022.
Ty Doucette, the 6'2 220 pound first baseman from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Province in Canada, plays travel ball for the powerfiul 18u Okotoks Black team in Okotoks, Alberta. The left handed Doucette, routinely peppers the upper seats in the RF bleachers above the 340 feet mark in Okotoks. He's in the OSU class of 2023 - by the time we see him, he could be even bigger and stronger. An accomplished Hockey player as well (has a helluva slap shot).
Chandler, AZ. - Basha HS Senior catcher, Tanner Smith (6-1, 225) recently poled one that left the park at the 390' mark in left center. Smith should leave Basha HS with over 20 career home runs. He has advanced defensive skills. A veteran of numerous All Star games, Area Code games, and travel team tournaments, Smith has never faced a pitcher he didn't like - he's base hit them all. Tanner can swing the bat. He'll be in Corvallis with the 2021 class this summer.
Xavier Neyvens, the HS freshman to be from Mt. Vernon HS in Washington, has a video clip on You Tube showing a home run blast he recently hit. Neyvens is an athletic catcher that has a fast bat and can drive the ball a long way for his age. He's part of the 3 early commits in the OSU class of 2025.
Wilson Weber is a skilled defensive catcher at Gresham's Sam Barlow HS. He has a POP time in the low 1.9 range and the PBR scouts say he has one of the best arms they saw in 2020. In a recent win over rival, Gresham HS, Weber blasted a pair of rond-trippers, one left the park at 335', the other traveled over 400'. Wilson is part of the Beaver's 2021 class.
