Great news. Would have been better if they had made this decision before Borrelli left!

Outstanding. The original cuts were supposedly about revenue losses with equity being a primary focus of which sports were cut. BUT, the cut sports eliminated essentially all of the Asian heritage athletes, and wrestling had far and away the highest % of low income qualifiers. Something like 78% of the Stanford wrestlers were in the low income waivers. The AD by trying to preserve diversity was actually hurting true diversity. Of course it is nice to see the alums step up with bucks and shoot down the cooked data on that budget.

Were eying any Stanford wrestlers as potential transfers before this announcement? I was eyeing Shane Griffith since he just won the NC. They did have a couple of local guys - Hayden Maley out of Roseburg (197) and freshman Elijah Clever from Nyssa. Thought that those two could realistically be potential transfers to OSU but neither would be a starter...

Is Maley still at 197? I saw him on the pac12 channel last year (?) two years ago (?) and he looked 250.

Fairly recent, Stanford announces new wrestling coach, Rob Koll, former HC at Cornell. gostanford.com/news/2021/5/29/wrestling-koll-named-head-coach.aspxHuge hire for tree. I think the way the ivy's handled last season (not competing at all) + the transfer of one of his best athletes, Max Dean, had something to do with the decision.

Not shocking to me. Stanford has deep pockets, and if they start a grassroots plan to get it reinstated by wealthy alumni,it doesn't surprise me. It's not always about $$$ since balance and title 9 has to be taken into account.
