Pass the rum, please. Need something stronger. I switched to Everclear in the 3rd.

For those that say this team is tournament worthy isn't being honest. Its lucky we played Washington, wazzu, and Utah early. It inflated the record. Of the 11 teams in the league we are in reality 6 or 7. We are sixth in the Pac-12 right now. Who should be sixth to make Oregon State seventh? The Beavers have defeated each of the bottom five teams, lost to each of the top five. There is a huge gulf between the top six and the bottom five. Each of the top six appears to be clearly Tournament worthy. Baseball America and D1Baseball each have the six teams in. Baseball America does not list any of the top six Pac-12 teams in the bottom four and D1Baseball does not list any of the top six teams in the bottom five. Oregon State is easily in, as long as they finish with a winning Pac-12 record. That is 3-4. A 2-5 finish, 15-15 in Pac-12 gets a lot more questionable. And the Beavers are probably two blown saves away from being an easy one-seed. Instead, we are locked into a two-seed apparently in some godforsaken place.

Today’s starter at the Abureid household. Rum and Coke Whenever I think of Rum and Coke I think of Corvallis. For a variety of reasons.

I don’t know Wilky....even getting two wins may be a tough get for how we are playing right now. Likely get swept this series and the competition only gets tougher.....I say we are questionable at getting into the regional somewhere.....I wouldn’t have thought that way a couple of weeks ago but we are a mediocre team right now....losing Melton hurt....

For a fan, great success is a double-edged sword isn't it? There's a definite high that goes along with it. And coming down off that high is not too different than coming down from any other "high". For those who take the team's success as "their" success, feeling that loss of power and prestige if their fortunes turn back toward mediocrity can be a very personal, even painful thing. This is a very predictable reaction. Just ask long-time UCLA basketball fans or USC or Stanford baseball fans. But when it's all said and done, It's still a good thing to have a team and be a fan. The BIRG phenomenon.

Good point, though looking at the numbers in the link you posted (depending on how the next 7 Conf. games play out - all against good teams) - 2021 'could be' one of the few seasons at or below .500 in PAC12. A poor 2-5 conference finish would = .500 Since that first trip to Omaha in 2005, Beavs have finished below .500 in conference only 3 times (never at exactly .500). Never at or below .500 since 2010. A poor 2021 finish - say 3 or less wins from here on out, and this season is in danger of resembling the 2016 season where Beavs were screwed by Meggs.

We have 6 Pac 12 games left. If we lose 4, then we're at 500 and 2 games left to play. We would have to lose 5 of 6 to finish at 500. I think I would bet a fair amount of money that this doesn't happen. No way. If we win half of the games left, then we finish 17-13, not great, but respectable. I think 18-12 is possible, but I have orange colored glasses.
