Things are looking up. At least we are increasing the length of the bench instead of watching it get shorter.
All-Academic, sounds like a Beaver to me.

I’m feeling much better now that we have a bench that is 7 deep!

If she can return to being healthy and play as well as she did two years ago, this is a terrific pickup. This adds depth to the 3 spot. With Talia, Tea, and Greta holding down the guard spots and one of them occasionally sliding to the '3', Ellie and Emily filling in the rest of the time at 3, and a bunch of options at 4&5 with Taylor, Jelena, Jovanah, Kennedy, Taya, and Ellie, I'm not sure the Beavs need to pick anyone else up for the coming season. Obviously if a great player cam along, you take a look, but otherwise you look at 2022 and beyond.

I'm not sure where she plays, most likely a 2 or 3. I don't recall seeing her listed as a point guard but I'm old and forgetful. I do remember that I liked what little I saw in highlight videos.

Hope this works out for Emily. I don't imagine she's coming in here with any great personal expectations, and just wants to experience being a part of a top program. We were discussing just yesterday whether Subasic would be able to find any minutes, and they could be hard to come by for Emily as well.
So we lost 4 players from last year's team (Aleah, Sasha, Savannah, and Jasmine) and we added 4 brand new ones (Emily, Greta, Tea, and AJ), and have Kennedy coming back from injury. You could also count Talia as a newcomer if you're comparing rosters from opening game to opening game. I think we're deeper and better.
And I like that 2 of the newcomers are grad transfers. Not only do we gain the experience factor, but our recruiting cycles won't be messed up by the extra year of eligibility combined with bringing in transfers with 3 or even 4 years to play.
We'll have 4 'seniors' this year (all of whom transferred into the program as grads), 2 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. (Wonder where Jelena stands academically. If, like Mik and Aleah, she could graduate in 3 years, she'd be starting on her Masters at the beginning of her 'sophomore' year.) No big recruiting bottlenecks, numbers wise, in the next couple of years like others might be facing.
We could add 1 more to the 2022 class, and still only have 12 on the team - room for another grad transfer or two that year.

I think minutes are much harder to come by for Subasic than in the back court. Even if Scott tries to play it like last year and get 10 minutes for Ellie at the three, we still have 80 front court minutes for 6 players, and in my opinion for this team to be at its highest level Kennedy and Taylor need at least 25+ minutes a night. Not a lot to go around there. It’s much simpler in the back court with 120 minutes to split. I think if she can defend and knock down 3s she will get minutes.

Hard to find much video on her but this one gives a good sense of her game (#23 in blue)

Hopefully she has more grittiness on defense at OSU. She looks to be a solid offensive player and I know she’s coming off an injury, but she looks slow in the video.

That video is pre-injury, I believe (unless she had others). I thought the same thing about TvO's D from HS video as well though, and she was generally able to hang except vs. elite guards. So the defensive coaching in the program should definitely help.

I hope she does well with the beavs!!

Fun side note: Taycee Wedin, close friend of Aleah in HS ,teammate ,daughter of Aleah's HS coach, was on the SMC team with Emily. I'm sure Aleah will acknowledge her at some point, welcome her to OSU.

I don't want this to sound bad, it's not so much that I forget A.J., it's more that adding Emily gives the Beavs more ability to play Tea, Talia, and Greta, at guard, leaving little time for A.J. to get minutes. Yes, A.J. is an option, and I hope a very good one, but I don't expect we will see a lot of her this season. I hope I'm wrong though. I hope she proves to be so good her play demands minutes. That would be even better for the Beavs and their future.
