Syd got in about the same minutes this afternoon in the Washington loss to Chicago that Aleah did yesterday. Here's hoping for the best for these two as they settle in on their new teams.

Aleah has been released again by Connecticut this am, will be interesting to see if any other team takes a chance, or if she just has to wait to see in Connecticut has any injury issues. The WNBA is a brutally tough league to stick in.

Agree - there is so much bias based on athletes physical metrics that it is tough to meet their position specifications irrespective of past season success and stats !

Agree - there is so much bias based on athletes physical metrics that it is tough to meet their position specifications irrespective of past season success and stats ! Maybe to get drafted I buy that, but she was in camp and on the regular roster, she’s not getting cut or screwed because of bias, it’s because there aren’t enough teams in the league for the talent pool. Totally different with 16 teams instead of 12.

Well , if she is getting cut, there must be some sort of process that keeps her ( for the time being ), on the outside looking in. She deserves a spot based purely on her 3 point success. She belongs somewhere, and maybe that is now Europe ! Go Aleah, Go Beavers !

There is a very good reason the wnba doesn't receive fan support and it has little to do with them being women and more to do with the nba part. Portland had a team that was shut down even though there was at least one group trying to work out a deal to keep it in Portland.

Portland Fire was in the WNBA from 2000-2002. Jackie Stiles won Rookie of the Year but the team was a money loser for the Blazers. Attendance seemed okay, 6-8,000 I took my daughter to a few games.

Portland had two different women’s professional basketball teams in the late 90s early 2000’s. The Portland Power was in the ABL from 1996 to 1998. The Portland Fire was in the WNBA from 2000 to 2002.

By that “purely on 3-point success” logic Lexi Bando should’ve been given a WNBA roster spot since her career three point percentage was identical to Aleah‘s

That was not the WNBA, that was a different league. Really? Maybe ag87 meant that since the Portland Fire is the only WNBA team to have never made the playoffs, I guess there's an argument that they were in the minors.

Syd actually got some decent PT tonight. Close to 20 minutes. 8 points on only 2 FGA (a 3 and 5 FTs). Watched part of it. Looked like she was trying to share the ball and create some offensive flow, while her teammates were taking turns jacking shots (and missing, over and over again).
