I have been watching replays of the NCAA tourney run, and it has been pretty impressive watching Calloo, especially in the Oklahoma State game. Can someone give me a rundown on why he did not receive more floor time this past season? He's 6'10, he hits the three, and he can dribble in the backcourt......
On the face of it, he looks like pretty darn good prospect. So, is there a ball park explanation of why he sat so much this year..... Appreciate any insight on this topic, as he looks to me like he has the makings of a major player in next year's scheme....Is it assumed he will be an impact player next year? Thanks.... GO BEAVS!!

If you watch him on the defensive end and his rebounding, it is easy to see why his minutes dropped off. If he can focus more on that next year, he has a lot of good offensive skills.

He also makes some questionable decisions at times, and can force things - which got him benched even during the tournament. But it does appear things started to click for him compared.

For the first 3/4ths of the year, his D and post play was genuinely weak, and his rebounding was weaker. I looked up his numbers on a CBB analytics site and for the whole season, they were atrocious... an average player is 0, a good defender can be plus 18 or plus 31... he was -24. Truly terrible, a major liability... and the numbers fully supported why Andela took some of his minutes. Now he started to try harder as we made our run and he was somewhat better, but he doesn’t look like he has instincts, like he was never taught to be tough or physical and he shies away at key times. That said, I think he started to improve and with effort could at least not be a liability. His O is solid when he makes good decisions. Just my opinion.

I felt he was a much more complete player in post season. Something clicked, if he keeps it up he'll get plenty of playing time.

Calloo's yearlong numbers are terrible. He was a good shooter, but his decision-making, defense and rebounding were bad. He came on strong over the final five games, but his yearlong numbers are still bad. Defensively, he is still a liability, but his decision-making and rebounding improved. If you take the best parts of Warith Alatishe and Maurice Calloo (final five games) and mix them together, you have one of the greatest basketball players ever.

He was sure fired up to play Okie St., being it was his former school. Lots of talking going on trying to distract him but he certainly got the last word in that game. His offense can be potent but playing D and rebounding will the key for him. I really hope he can bring some consistency next year as he will be a huge factor in the success of the season.

Thanks to all posters for the input. It has been consistent and to the point! I feel as though I have a better understanding of his total game than I did from only observing his impressive offensive skills in the NCAA's. I didn't watch many Men's games this year, so I had little data to work with in trying to figure out Calloo's game.....Thanks again..... GO BEAVS!!
