He hurt his leg running out a ground ball against UCI. Mitch should have held him at the plate.

This program is always hush hush with injuries HIPAA limits what they can say. It’s not just our program. HIPAA doesn't explain why they can't just announce that he's got a hammy and won't be playing......we hear injury stuff all the time with the football program. they just don't talk about it.....so we are left wondering most of the time.

That’s exactly what HIPAA does. The player can come out and say what the injury is, but the coaches cannot.

Even in pro sports, especially hockey, the injury reports are very unspecific. The NFL has very clear rules about injury reporting to help discourage gamblers from having inside information. That's why players who are listed as "out" (as opposed to doubtful or probable) cannot play that week.

The college agreements are much different than the pro leagues that have players’ associations negotiating everything for them. And linking an article that relates to college betting has little to do with the current situation. At some point it may happen, but right now schools are not releasing injury info and they are using HIPAA as their reasoning for doing so.

Don’t even get into the complexities of a player with a hip injury...a real can of worms. Many folks don’t know this, but Coach Riley was dangerously close to violating the law with his winning post game celebrations.

Using HIPPA as the reasoning is the red herring that was referred to. To say that a coach cannot release injury info regarding college players is not correct.
