Money talks, 2.27 million a year is what Mulkey made at Baylor.
Family first.

If that's what he wanted, then no, it wouldn't be wacko. I would be totally shocked, however, if he even threw his hat in the ring. Besides, he's no longer the hot new thing even in the PAC 12 - Adia Barnes is.
If Scott wanted to leave Corvallis for more money, I think he would have done so long ago.

Adia Barnes has to be on the short list as a hot commodity to go after in the Pac-12.

It's hard to hear nothing but praise for Mulkey in this ESPN article:https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/31083456/women-college-basketball-coaching-changes-2021-22
"Her accomplishments are unprecedented, her passion is unrivaled, and her commitment to winning in all aspects of life -- in the classroom, on the court, and in the community -- is unparalleled."
I wanted to add "her psychotic behavior & ability to throw a coat deep into the stands is unparalleled !"
sorry, had to be said, back to the subject at hand...

The quote above was from somebody at LSU announcing the hire. All those statements make the new coach sound like a cross between Mother Teresa and John Wooden, and should be ignored in their entirety.

Her accomplishments are not unprecedented, and do not even come even remotely close to matching those of Pat Summit and Geno.

She's a home town girl, and LSU wants to become relevant in this sport. One of the few they aren't Of course that's the case, but all those announcements of new hires are nothing but hype and bull. They're always "excited" by the hire, even when the guy won 23 games over 4 years at his last gig. They applaud her "truly unique way of relating to young student athletes" even though she's demonstrably a latter day version of Woody Hayes or Bobby Knight. He "shares this institution's commitment to excellence in the classroom" even though the institution last graduated a football player during Obama's first term. And on and on...

I was obviously being facetious in all the stuff I made up for that post, and wasn't referencing LSU specifically. Chill out, Spud.

It was interesting to read that the Governor of Louisiana (John Bel Edwards) was at the welcome ceremonies for Mulkey in Baton Rouge...... One would think that folks like the state governor might have more pressing things to do than attend coach welcoming events? (Not making a political statement, drawing attention to how big sports/LSU must be down there, or how big this hire is for the state).
Go Beavers!
