He was doing a really nice job on the recruiting trail, but meh on the court. 2017–18 USC 20–11 9–9 7th 2018–19 USC 17–13 7–11 T–8th 2019–20 USC 11-12 8-10 USC: 48–36 (.571) 24–30 (.444) I know some posters seemed to like him but that embarrassing postgame fiasco after their loss up here in 2019 reflected poorly on him and his program. Fight on.

It will be interesting to see how USC handles this vacancy......USC is one of America's destination schools, and it will always be able to recruit well if any body puts in the time and the energy.
There has never (in my memory) been fan support for USC WBB - but like everything Los Angeles, if they start winning the fans will follow...
Like several posters on this board, I have thought since Trash arrived USC has had more player talent than coaching talent. So, if they hire a good coach to go with their talent, you're looking at one more PAC school that will get even tougher in the next few years.... GO BEAVS

Any thoughts on leading candidates for this job?

Arizona poached two Pac-12 coaches today - Erin Grant (USC) and April Phillips (California).

GO BEAVS They won when Cheryl Miller played there, including at least one national championship I believe.

I was going to say Arizona has too many assistant coaches, but apparently Jackie Nared is headed to Oregon to be an assistant. Arizona is not wasting any time picking up coaches or players. It still looks like they are in play for Endyia Rogers , and Endyia has already started following April Phillips on Instagram. I won't be surprised to see Arizona pick up Marquette transfer Camryn Taylor as well. Camryn averaged 12 points and 7 boards last season and will be a nice pickup wherever she lands.

Remember what I said, be careful what you wish for regarding the Ucks upgrading over ditzy Campbell. Jackie Nared is a real nice upgrade over Campbell for them if true.

Did anyone see this coming? I agree Trakh has been completely underwhelming in his second stint at USC. They could do better...but will they? Who was the last coach they had that actually did a good job there? I honestly don't know the answer. I'd expect some transfers. It's hard to see them improving next year, with the uncertainty that comes w/ a coaching change, and assuming they lose a few players to transfer.

Well, even if they've lost their coach and several of the players transfer, they've still got that phenomenal fan base to fall back on.

I don't know when this happened, but 2022 Hoopgurlz #9, AAliyah Gayles, a 5'9" point guard from Nevada now shows uncommitted. She had previously been a Southern Cal commit.

Article about coaching changes at Arizona, including the former USC assistant, I got a kick out of Adia saying “Right now we have a tremendous amount of momentum at Arizona, and I knew we needed to hire the best coaches in the country,” Barnes said in a press release. “After running a national search, I knew that April Phillips and Erin Grant were the best women for the job.
Let's temper that...they were the best women, on the market, that were willing to come to Arizona. I know it's "interview speak", but I felt the need to call her on it.
I feel bad for USC, the players that weren't ready to leave, were happy, now are thinking "do I jump ship, do I have options, what's left ?"

Transferring out of USC would depend on more factors than just basketball for some of their players.
If you take away the Ivy League schools, USC is one of the top 20 universities in the country by most ratings. If your undergraduate major is Business Management, or the Visual and Performing Arts, you are enrolled in one of America's very best universities. We all know how prestigious Stanford is as an academic institution -- well USC is not their equal, but they are right up there.
So, as I said in the beginning, some of these athletes will have a lot more to consider than just basketball when it comes to putting their names in the transfer portal....
Among many elite corporations in Southern Cal, USC has an "it" factor that is hard to overlook. A degree from USC opens many more employment doors in Southern Cal than a degree from any other California university - except for Stanford. Thats hard to overlook for 90% of undergrads who are working toward their degree with the hopes of seeking employment immediately after graduation. GO BEAVS!!

Don’t be surprised to see Jody Wynn, recently fired as UW Husky coach, be in the running for the USC job. She was a finalist the last time the job was open (before Trakh was rehired). They offered the job to Karl Smesko of Florida Gulf Coast U (“Dunk City”) a friend of Andy Enfield, men’s coach who came from FGCU. Smesko accepted, so Wynn took the Husky job, then Smesko backed out and USC Reached out to Trakh to take the job. Wynn played for Trakh, and played at USC with Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson. USC is Wynn’s dream job, but not sure if her lack of success at UW will disqualify her in USC’s eyes.
