Why is everyone suggesting past Beav WBB players for our coaching openings? Come on folks, the world is bigger than that. SR has contacts across the country. Both Brian and KF were great recruiters - that’s what we need now. Just like KF turned out to be. My bigger concern is holding on to our 2022 recruits now that KF is gone.

Wishful thinking about previous beaver players is fun. While we are dreaming, at the head of the line has to be Mandy Close. She was a fierce competitor on the court but played the calm to Rueck's fire on the sidelines.
Seriously though, Rueck plays an extremely involved role in recruiting as he should. I don't see players following either Katie or Brian but I could definitely be wrong.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the 2022 recruits having second thoughts. They're old enough to understand the concept of moving up in the world and what it takes to do so. They will be more focused on the head coach, the overall program culture, and their teammates. Nothing has changed with the first two, and they have to like what they see teammate wise. Those who will be sophomores when they arrive include two highly ranked 5 star recruits, a 4 star recruit, and a big foreign recruit. The junior class will consist of one more 5 star, and a very high 4 star who was hurt in her ranking by injury in her junior year of high school (which will sound pretty familiar to each of them as well). They themselves will be two 5 stars and a (probable) 4 star.
They have to like what they see as the base, and it will all be together for 2 years. There's a lot more to their choice than Katie, and whoever replaces Katie will be working to develop relationships with them as well.

Let's just get the best possible candidate to further osu WBB. Don't care one bit if it's an ex player at osu or not. Full trust in coach Rueck will pick the right person for the job.

These are all good thoughts bvrbooster, but we also need to keep in mind the current easy transfer rules. I don't expect anymore transfers, but if any of the players were especially close to Brian and Katie, but perhaps didn't care as much for Scott and Jonas, you could see them giving consideration to transferring. I don't expect any more transfers, and I believe the Beavs will hold on to the 2022 recruits, but after the last couple seasons of Destiny, Sasha, Savannah as well as coaches BH and KF all leaving, you have to be prepared for anything. That's why I feel it is important for SR to find good coaches, and find them in a timely manner. You want to get the right people, but the sooner the better in my mind.

I'm a little uncomfortable that Katie F has started following Washington Women's basketball on Instagram. Hopefully that means nothing. She also started following former Rice assistant, Latara King on twitter today. She already started following Tina Langley as soon as she was announced as Head coach.......and then there are those three Rice players in the portal that Katie has been following. I think it would be a good career move for Katie to get experience under another coach, but I will hate losing her when/if it happens, and I really hope it's not this season. Not now while losing BH in the same season. Again, hopefully this has no meaning. Coaches follow each other all the time. Perhaps the Beavs are considering Latara King as an assistant, but it makes more sense that she may follow Langley. Whatever the case, Beaver fans have a lot to stay in tune with this offseason.....new coaches, subtraction and addition of players, etc. Let's enjoy the ride....if we can. Once again rman you were the first to sniff this out just as you did with BH going to Montana.....Great detective work I must say!.....I will be following your posts to see if you can cue us to who OSU's next assistant's might be!

For all of those closely connected to the OSU WBB, the departure of Katie Faulkner as the team's third assistant is a massive loss. Losing Brian Holsinger to Montana is muted a bit by the presence of Jonas Chatterton for his calming influence and scout prep abilities.
Faulkner's departure is a huge blow to recruiting for the Beavs. Her charismatic ability to communicate with and eventually secure five-star recruits can't be overstated.
While I have confidence that Rueck will be able to attract two highly qualified assistants to fill out his coaching staff, he will be hard pressed to find such a talented rising coaching star with the promise that Faulkner has.

Here’s a thought. You want charisma and someone who comes from a basketball family. I may be crazy, Joslyn tinkle

Since we are going to talk long shots, I'll throw out the name of Jodie Karsak. She was Kennedy Brown's High School coach at Derby High School. Her husband lost his job and couldn't find another job in his field in that area, so Jodie announced before this season that she would be leaving Derby. She coached there this year, and I believe they may have moved to the Kansas City area. A couple weeks ago SR started following her on twitter. I think she is doubtful as a choice, but as a coach, I could see a real fit with how SR runs his family oriented program, and she relates well with her players.
Here's what I do expect in a hire though: 70% chance both hires will be female 80% chance one of the hires will be a minority 40% chance they both will be minorities My hope is that at least one of them is a experienced, highly accomplished recruiter, and that they both relate well with players and High School/AAU coaches and players.

I am so intrigued you mention this tonight, because I had the same thought. I remember reading articles on how her and Scott’s coaching philosophy really matches up. It would be outside the box but could be a great move.
