Really hating on this ‘so called ‘ program ! How can you keep a fan base when all the players are bailing ? Yes, some coming in, but , have to start the team thing from scratch again! Hope it’s over , at least on the Departure Side ! We need a new Governing body, and it should not be ALL SEC biased assholes ! Needs to be dependent on Students first - then graduating, then exception basis transfers !

I saw an article from the 12th, as of then just over 28% of NCAA scholarship basketball players have entered the portal. Washington has at least 6 that have entered so far.
Exciting times.

ASU had several players too. Way of the world these days. Gotta root for the name on the front of the jersey.
Or the coach.

Sucks.
IMO of course.

Seinfeld had a bit where he said with free agency we are just rooting for a Jersey but isn't that the truth anyway?
We can loathe a player and then they don our team's Jersey and viola! Our hero.
That of course is the rule in my opinion, not the exception. i.e. see lebron James when he became a laker.

He wants to contribute, but the coach has already ruled him out. Coming to OSU may be the break that he needs to find some measure of success in the sport that he loves. I get it, though. Even in the pros, I like to see guys stick with one team. Are you a Patriot fan or a Brady fan? But not allowing the players options isn’t right. And college sports isn’t really so much different from the pros, except that they should be getting a degree (wink, wink). So tie the transfer portal to the student’s academic standing somehow, but let them have choices.

It is, right? They have to meet academic standards of the school they're transferring to, just like any other student.

I think it stinks. Oklahoma just snatched Loyola-Chicago's coach, and then he goes and snags the tournament stars Jacob and Tanner Groves from EWU, who lost their coach to UP. I get that both the students and coaches should have the freedom to move, but it's creating even more of a "minor league" situation for the 'have nots'. The tournament has been a lot more fun to watch IMO since the blue-bloods have to deal with 1-and-dones, but if they can now just pluck kids through essentially a developmental league of mid-majors, we probably won't get tournaments anymore that don't have Duke, UNC and Kentucky in the final groups every year.

I believe I read, somewhere, that one of our guys that was already on his third school - has entered the portal for his fourth shot ! How can you keep on an academic schedule and maintain any credits towards a degree if you are making all of these moves purely for the sports opportunities ? AND... the guy was a described as a SOPHOMORE ! This will get even more disorienting over time ! GUARANTEED !

More schools were forced to offer classes online due to pandemic and shutdown of campus. So "moving" does not create the same issues with logistics as was the case prior to 2020.

You mean like a football playoff that doesn’t include Alabama, Auburn, or Ohio State?

Nobody was practicing with their teams remotely...
