Bummer. I was hoping he would have an expanded role next year with Ethan and Reichle leaving.

I liked Silver's game. He made some clutch shots against Oklahoma State when the Beavs lead was about gone. The new guys coming in must be pretty good. I figured there would be some attrition, but also thought it would be limited if both ET and Zach move on with their lives in coaching or trying to make it professionally somewhere. Considering how many transfers Tariq already had, and that lots of minutes would open up at his primary position(s) with the seniors, he was the last guy I thought would go. I really like his defensive presence, and he had clearly earned the Tinkle trust to be playing regularly in the biggest games. With his skills and a full year in the system, he could have been an overall upgrade for as many or more than Zach's minutes, which Zach seemed to earn through 4 years of veteran savvy. Too bad to see Tariq looking to leave, but like you said, new guys better be good, and ready to play!

Young Mr. Silver deserves a ton of credit for staying engaged, despite limited playing time, and being ready to help when he was needed. He helped us in March at some critical times. Well done Tariq, and best of luck to you!

Rats! I liked watching him come in off the bench. I was always impressed how quickly he got into the flow of the game and started producing.
If you ask me, leaving a team that just made the Elite Eight with your help doesn't make a lot of sense. But good luck to you and thanks for the role you played in our amazing season!

Looks like he is headed to Austin Peay. Not sure how much talent they have for next year, but seems like a good level for him — should be able to get playing time. Good luck to him.

(local media): "Another major factor in Silver’s commitment to the (Austin Peay) Governors is newly appointed head coach Nate James who, along with OSU head coach Wayne Tinkle, believes that Silver has what it takes to play professionally -- and Silver believes it too."
footnote: I can NEVER think of Austin Peay, without the words "Fly Williams" rolling 'cross my mind.

Ahhh good ol’ Fly! More than just an urban legend, in his 2 seasons there he led APU to two Ohio Valley championships averaging 28.5 pts and 9.0 boards. His first year they took Kentucky into OT losing 106-100 in the sweet 16. They said he basically was responsible for their new arena built shortly after he left

As an Illinois fan, Austin Peay brings back a very bad memory.
