Someone probably already posted/answered this, but when is the last time we were ranked at end of season? 1990?

I get that this is a body-of-work ranking, but I can't help but chuckle at the fact that we are looking up at 5 teams we beat head to head in this ranking, and we're #20! That's a full quarter of the field above us. How many teams can say they beat anyone above them, at all?
Pretty heady stuff. Just hope we can seize this momentum and carry into next year. If we retain enough of this team, do we get a preseason ranking this fall?

No 20 seems low we beat every team above us that we played except Houston.

No 20 seems low we beat every team above us that we played except Houston. maybe.. but how close was OSU to even being anywhere in the polls before their late season run?.. 20 seems about right

The last time that Oregon State was ranked in the final Coaches Poll was 1984. The Beavers finished ranked #17 in the AP Poll and #20 in the Coaches poll in 1984. That is the final year that Oregon State finished ranked in both polls, as well. ochobeavo

Poll doesn’t matter.
We finished tied for 5th in the Championship Tournament.

Maybe they will get some pre season ranking heading into next season. Top 25 teams get more highlights on ESPN, etcc.. can help to get OSU's name out there.. may not seem like a lot but every little bit of recognition helps

A fun fact is that Wayne Tinkle is the Pac-12 voting coach. Baylor is the Big 12 representative. Alabama is the SEC representative. Creighton is the Big East representative. Syracuse is the ACC representative. Purdue is the Big Ten representative.

Losing to good teams is acceptable, but a Pac-12 team cannot lose to EITHER Wyoming or UofP, much less both, and expect consideration for national rankings or at-large bids. Too deep a hole, and many OSU MBB teams have failed to dig out. Very happy this one did, but it took a little luck along the way.

Really really hope that this season helps with scheduling better teams in the future. Replace those Wyoming and U of P games with some higher profile games (maybe a Gonzaga, SDSU, Nevada just to name some programs close to us) and that should help with that. Would love to see some other P5 games as well, maybe a more prestigious non-conference tournament with a couple of blue bloods or pre-season ranked teams (Maui, Atlantis?). This may be wishful thinking, but I think we'd all be much happier with 6-6 to 8-4 in non-conference play with a lot of good teams on the schedule than 10-2 with a home or neutral loss to Portland.

Poll doesn’t matter. We finished tied for 5th in the Championship Tournament. I like to think we were sixth, 2nd closest (behind Michigan) to making the Final Four
