Great job by the bullpen shutting the door, as a number of that other team’s wins have been late inning come from behind victories. And when you put balls into play, a few will find the holes, or the top of the fence.

Nice to see Verberg back and getting the job done. We were a bit better at the Plate. Looks like they need to find a place for Forrester. He looks like he could be our next really good hitter. Dukart at least was showing how ticked off he is with the way he is hitting. Just have to say Dernedde looked like a good up grade at 2nd.

Have to hand it to ucks, they are playing well. I think we learned some things this weekend that will make us a better ball club in May and June.

And a good pitching outing doesn't mean a thing if we can't get a runner on (let alone in).

The games on Friday and Saturday were hard to watch. I’d be interested in knowing what our hitting coach’s approach is. The Beavs need to develop an offense in a hurry or PAC12 play is not going to be fun.

I believe the inning we scored our runs, most if not all of the batters swung at the first pitch. We were taking the first pitch way too much those three games. I would like to know how many times we had the 3rd strike called on us; especially, the first two games.
We bat like walks are better than hits. I hate when the announcer praises the batter with "good eye" and two pitches later he is called out watching the 3rd strike.
Ok, I feel better now.

Similar to last season when UCSB came to town and made the Beavs look average. I wonder if, like last year, there are just enough games played now for a scouting report to be developed against the Beavs. For some players it appears the scouting report may be as simple as throwing two strikes and they will take, then throw off the plate and they will chase. Jones for one may be the type of player that struggles once the other team knows the pitch he can't hit.

Sent one to the warning track. And even with his current slump, he is still hitting better than most of the other players. I’d like to see him out of the lead off position. Put him second, where he sacrifice someone over. Or drop him further. He’s not aggressive enough to be a lead off hitter.

There have always been scouting reports, but now every coach in the country has access to every pitch for and against a team. A player can rub his crotch before a take, and a future coaching opponent knows. I actually thought the gigantic change in taking pitches happened during the second game. It is difficult to change from being passive to semi-agressive. There are obviously good reasons for taking early in the count, but a fastball in the middle of the plate or even a grooved curve or slider needs to be handled.

Everyone knows now to do everything they can to get the ump to give them the outside pitch against us - When the batters seem to think that they have a better eye than the ump, we know who is going to lose that one. Also, I am hoping that they are having Kyler watch his at bats from that series. His stance and swing were horrific.
