It's going to take a very high level transfer to come in and have a shot at significant minutes with the Beavs over the next several years. Unless something weird happens, I don't see us going to the well for a portal player, especially a one and done grad student type.

If the seniors leave, they only have 10 scholarship players for next year, 9 without Aquino. If Goodman and/or Mack don’t return it seems like they might need another player or 2?

The transfer portal will be very active this year. It's become something of a second recruiting season. Teams that need immediate help, which is most teams, can find just what they are looking for in the portal. Conversely, players can find what they are looking for as well. A good player who seems locked behind someone else for the next 2-3 years, could find a team where they can be the starter.
We'll really start to see the portal heat up as team lose out after post season play. I'm hoping the Beavs don't lose anyone significant, but if Aleah doesn't return, I could see the Beavs look for some PG help. If Talia were to be injured, we don't have a lot of great ballhandlers right now.

Wouldn't be shocked to see a bigger school go after Loville. She's from Sammamish, WA.

It would not surprise me to see UW go after BSU's coach, Gordy Presnell. He's done a good job there. He coached a long time at Seattle Pacific and probably should have been hired when they hired Tia Jackson, who was a complete train wreck. Like another ex-Duke assistant who got a Pac-10 coaching job in the NW.

I can see Jovana Subasic and Ellie Mack not returning for next season. I'm not sure how significant this will impact the overall roster. Or if it would incline Coach to go the transfer portal to replace them.
I pretty much agree with mbabeav when he says that it will take a VERY impressive player for Rueck to bring them in via the transfer portal.... The evidence is accumulating that Jelena Mitrovic will eventually be a very solid Pac-12 player. She's got a ways to go, but being 6'9 will get her there faster. She has not learned to elevate the ball over her head, but my guess that's on this summer's work list. She gets pushed around way too much for a player her size.
To me, the most significant recruiting accomplishment for the 21/22 season will be to get Aleah to sign on for another season.... She can rest her body this summer and be ready to go in October.
If Aleah returns, OSU will be looking at the best backcourt in the Pac-12, and one of the very best in the country: Goforth, Talia, Goodman. That's an impressive trio by anyone's standards. Of the three, I think Goforth has room for the greatest "leap."
I'm kinda rambling here - but those are a few things on my mind this morning.... GO BEAVS!!

Ouch for Boise State. Since we beat them in OT, they were still pretty strong last year, but looks like they really dropped off this year, and this certainly won't help.

I'm hoping Ellie returns because I believe she just found her 'way' as a Pac-12 player. Depending on how ready Kennedy is, that would be way too many 'bigs', but at this point Ellie is the most aggressive inside player between her, Taya, and Kennedy, and Ellie can slide to the 5 or the 3 in situations where she is really needed. Taya has shown improved play in recent weeks as well, so to be honest, I have no idea who would start between Kennedy, Taya, and Ellie. I am really looking forward to seeing Kennedy, Taylor, and Sasha on the floor together defensively, but recent injuries have told us that it takes a while for some players to return to form. I agree that a return for Aleah would give the Beavs one of the best backcourts in the country, and Goforth is one of my favorite players. She is explosive and can get to the rack. She needs to learn how to finish, but I expect that to happen over the next couple years. I've said this before, but those who watched Gary Payton play at Oregon State, he was always great at getting to the basket, but as a freshman, he was poor at finishing. By the time he was a senior, he was almost impossible to stop. Sasha does not have (and won't have) the ball handling skills of Gary Payton, Talia, or most point guards, but she will learn to finish and when she does, watch out! With her length, she just explodes past her defender. She still leads the Beavs in free throw attempts, which attest to her ability to drive to the basket. Now that the Beavs are getting multiple talent at all positions, you do have to worry about transfers out. As much as some players may love the system, coaches, atmosphere, etc at Oregon State, they do have to look out for themselves as well (Destiny). I could see a player the caliber of Jelena not wanting to play behind Taylor for another 2-3 years, when right now she could start from some program for the next four years. This type of scenario does scare me a bit, but at the same time, if you know a player is transferring out, their are a lot more players in the transfer portal you can look for to transfer in.

I don't see Jelena transferring this year. Bear in mind, she came in at the same time as Taylor and Kennedy, and both those players were already signed when she committed. So she was very much aware of the other bigs (Patricia as well) in the program.
If Jelena can improve over this summer, there's plenty of minutes available to her next year, particularly given Taylor's propensity to get into foul trouble. It's the following year that the transfer portal might start appealing to her. If she does indeed show marked improvement, but can see that Raegan's going to take her minutes anyway, that might be something she would consider. Might get more and better programs looking as well - savvy veteran with 2 years remaining versus project with potential with 3 years left.
I remain confident Aleah will return. Subasic, I don't think so; this hasn't worked out the way she hoped, nd Brown's return next year isn't going to help her cause. Mack, I'm not sure, but I'd guess she'll come back even though she loses her starting position. She's been a big fish in a small pond, and don't imagine she'd want to go back to that. Coming back allows her to finish the Masters (I assume) and actually experience the full big time program spectrum that was denied everybody this year.

Three players entered from Notre Dame, including Savannah’s HS teammate Amirah Abdur-Rahim. Alli Campbell has a skill set Rueck likes, but didn’t get to show it. Unlikely we’ll look for a guard unless Aleah doesn’t return:

Not a lot of playing time going forward at our stacked roster. It would take a specialist or a low ego player who is happy just coming off the bench playing a role to interest us on taking a transfer. You know how important chemistry is to Scott.

Unlikely we’ll look for a guard unless Aleah doesn’t return: Campbell was the #25 recruit on Hoopgurlz and Hayes was 44. Wonder what's going on in South Bend.

Notre Dame: From title game in '19 to not sniffing the Dance two years in a row. Amirah is Shareef's sister if I recall correctly. Didn't get much PT this year.
