Are people still wanting Tinkle fired like they wanted before the season started? I can think of a couple of folks that do but many do not.* *This was not a scientific poll however.

Are people still wanting Tinkle fired like they wanted before the season started? I thought WT deserved one more year, but I fully expected to be advocating for his firing about this time in the season. To his credit, WT has the team playing well and exceeding expectations this year. I also like the turn recruiting has taken recently. So, do I want to see WT fired? No. But I also don’t want to see him get some long contract extension off this year either. I’m not one of those that subscribes to idea that making tourney once in seven years is best Oregon State can expect to do. I look forward to seeing what team can do the rest of this year. And I’m more encouraged about next year than I was a few months ago. But let’s not forget about some terrible losses this year. And if team back slides next year than In my opinion WT deserves to be right back on the hot seat. But that’s a discussion for next year — and hopefully not even then. Go Beavs.

I have a thought on the whole fire Tinkle thing.
Two seasons ago the Beavers basically got screwed out of the NIT, last year they finished with a 64 NET ranking, and a bunch of posters quite vociferously wanted him gone.
This season has been a pleasant surprise in how the team is performing, but arguably a degree worse in the win/loss column. However, they seem to be on a roll and on the whole the board seems pretty positive.
Hate to say it, but the biggest difference I see, one frequent poster is gone. I'm thinking when you don't have a poster who posts multiple (and I do mean multiple) times a week with a seemingly anti-someone agenda, things quiet down a bit and the discussion gets a bit more reasonable. Close losses to decent teams suddenly become close losses to decent teams, not another reason to fire someone. Wins don't suddenly become a few lucky bounces away from a loss. People notice a guy like Silva having actual improved play rather than harping on the position need to be filled by a monster do-all athlete and how the player will never develop to that under Coach T. Blah, blah, blah...
Anyway, I think the level of discussion has calmed a bit. Kinda happy about that.

Nothing like a little self promotion on the Twitter feed (assuming he has control, or is friends with the person who does have control... of the feed) Isn't OSU's men's basketball twitter supposed to promote OSU men's basketball? This isn't WT's personal Twitter account, if he even has one. it is promoting the basketball team.

Is there any chance that the people who thought that the team would improve as the coaches' kids might've been on to something?

After the expectations of a last place finish by osu MBB,this team has had a really nice finish to the season and looked well coached and cohesive. Am I satisfied with a 5th place finish and likely not a big dance birth? No. I have to give credit where credit is due, Wayne and staff have done a great job and gives me hope with the addition of Davis,Rand, and Malone-Key next year can get us to the big dance. 2021-2022 will be the pivot point whether we keep Wayne or move on from him...

Blah, blah, blah... Anyway, I think the level of discussion has calmed a bit. Kinda happy about that. I think what you point out is true to a point, but I think it has more to do with expectations. When the team had Tres and the Thompson brothers and then Tres and Ethan, expectations were higher and WT couldn’t get the team to play up to those expectations nor find the other pieces to get them to make the jump. The goal is to get to the NCAA tourney not to almost get to the NIT or to have a decent NET ranking. This year expectations were pretty low and with some bad early losses it looked like the team would meet them. To WT and the team’s credit, they collected themselves and have exceeded expectations pretty significantly. That has earned WT some goodwill. But at some point, expectations have to be higher again AND they need to be met.

It feels like he's building something. Given that this year was setting up to look like the cupboards were bare, and even worse next year, I'm off that train for now. They were picked last due to what they looked like on paper, and so to finish ahead of half the conference was unexpectedly impressive. Turns out the talent he brought in were much better than they were on paper, and so he gets credit for both finding them and coaching them up. It certainly helps cool his seat when you look around the conference and don't covet many of the coaches over him right now (at least I don't).

Im surprised he didnt win it either his first season when most people thought OSU would win 6 or 7 games but won 17.. or 2nd season when he took them to NCAA That final Civil War game of the season was essentially a game to see which coach would win COTY. Wayne started all five walk-ons and we lose the game by 3. That gesture may have lost him that award, but would never want him to go back and change it after what those walk-ons did for the program that first year.

Just wondering how many years does it take to build something? Other than the year the beavs won 5 and another that the team squeaked into the dance we've liter ally been at the same spot - average.

Enfield, Cronin, and Boyle are the only three that jump out to me as coaches I would take in a heartbeat. Altman is a good coach but I could never bring myself to root for him. Kyle Smith is still new and unproven, and the Hopkins hype has diminished significantly after two terrible seasons. Haase at Stanford seems to be an alright coach, and Krystkowiak can't seem to beat WT so I wouldn't really take him now either. Everyone else I wouldn't necessarily take over Wayne right now either so I agree with you for the most part.
