To me the biggest difference I see from this team and teams previous is the inside presence and rebounding....Warith....Silva.....can't recall the other big dude's name.....they are a load. And tonight it just always felt like we were the more athletic team. Been a while since I could say that about an OSU team in general. I like this team......and when they all show up, they can beat about anyone. Course we could lose to almost anyone as well....guess that's how it goes, but I'm enjoying this late season ride. Beat the Ducks and things continue to get more interesting. You're thinking about Andele who is a big dude with a ton of hustle. He does a lot with the court time he gets.

Our Beaver Who Belongs in the Big Sky Conference had 16 points and no turnovers in 33 minutes. And hit 3 of 4 free throws in crunch time.

You know, there's really no way to tell how much having 3 talented coach's kids, who were likely 4 year starters, hurt recruiting the last several years. The coaching job Tinkle did his first two years was terrific. Overall it's been pretty good, but I do think at least some talented kids avoided coming here simply because of the names already on the roster. I wouldn't personally call it an over-reliance on off-spring because they were all talented kids who would have started at most schools. It would have been a mistake to sit them. I think the coaches's kids may have been overated because the rating services wanted to make nice with their parents. Bad chemistry or overated, either way led to losing records. I'm pretty sure Tres and Stevie had caught the eye of the rating services WHILE Coach Tinkle was at Montana and Coach Thompson was at Cal State LA. We heard about both of those kids as highly rated players pretty much the day the hires were made. Do you really think the ratings services boosted their profiles to "make nice" those two coaches?

WT is now 5-1 vs. Utah in the last 3 years. WT is owning his predecessor at Montana of late.

Yes, it is nice to know that the all time leading scorer in the history of our program was overrated as a recruit. And Tinkle has only had one year with a losing record.

All time leading scorer with a losing Pac 12 record could be viewed as player and coach not focussed on teamwork and winning. We keep hearing how one great player can turn a team around. But we just got a scoring record. That's a lousy consolation prize as a fan.

With the son approach - recruiting wise , we suffered Now that recruits see playing time at every position - we get better recruits . Better recruits - more wins
I will NEVER understand how we landed Lucas ! Would love to hear the real backstory !

I thought Stevie started to towards the end of his career and Ethan has greatly improved his D. But, I still can't say that Tres was overrated as a recruit. They all have been very good players.

He said he's UCLA'S all time leading scorer but nobody thinks he may be their best player.

We beat 2 teams with a projected top-5 pick NBA picks - one on the road (Zaire Williams of Stanford and Evan Mobley of USC). The problem with using NBA roster as a metric is that these kids usually leave before they actually can effectively carry a team with their talents. It's pretty hard to argue that these frosh are having more of an impact on their teams than Tres did for his team when he was an upperclassman, yet they will make NBA rosters.

There are numerous examples.....Kyle Singler, Tyler Hansborough....etc.
