48 years ago today. Pink Floyd releases their album, Dark Side of the Moon. 329 years ago, the Salem witch trials began. 240 years ago, the 13 colonies united under the Articles of Confederation. 206 years ago, Napoleon stepped off the boat at Golfe-Juan in mainland France, beginning his "100 days." 19 days later, he was in Paris, once again Emperor of France. 149 years ago, Yellowstone became the world's first national park. 128 years ago, Nikola Tesla first demonstrated a radio in St. Louis, Missouri. 104 years ago, Woodrow Wilson published the Zimmerman Telegraph. Two days later, Arthur Zimmerman confirmed that the Telegraph was true. 12 days afterwards, Czar Nicholas II abdicated, which paved the way for the United States of America to enter on the Allied side. On April 2, 1917 (Wilson's first opportunity after the February Revolution), Wilson requested that Congress declare war on Germany. 68 years ago, Josef Stalin suffered the stroke, which rendered him unable to speak. He died four days later of the stroke died without regaining the ability to speak. 67 years ago, four Puerto Rican Nationalists opened fire in the House of Representatives, shooting five Representatives, all of which ultimately survived. The four perpetrators were all pardoned by Carter after serving between 23 and 26 years of 25-to-75 year terms.
