Earlier this year I said "WT is the poster child of Mediocrity, in an irrelevant league." I humbly eat those words. That may be the best win of the WT era. Great game plan that the players executed. I just saw this team play great defense, trust each other, take and make their shots and keep playing hard. If this is what WT's idea of winning basketball looks like, I'll take it.

FTs made the difference: 16-5 in favor of da Beavs.
It also seems to me that with JL starting now we tend to win when he is "on" and we lose when he is not.

Was good to see Jarod break out again.. he was like 5/28 shooting his last 3 games.. Lucas's 3 highest scoring games of his career so far are vs Stanford.. ironically the only other game he's played vs them he scored 0 points(only played 4 mins though)

Strange, that doesn't look like a post I made.

I remember when a certain departed poster here said Lucas was not a Pac-12 player. Man, those three that got away early are huge, but can't dwell on that. We have really developed and WT has gone a very good job this season under extremely trying circumstances. Nice to put today's game away without the nail-biting of last Thursday. I enjoy it immensely when we defeat Stanford, in any sport. Wasn’t just him. I read back through the UP game thread. Someone there said they wanted to see Lucas transfer at the end of the year because he wasn’t a pac-12 player. Lots of frustrated posts in that thread. In all fairness to most of them, I’ve been mostly a let’s see what happens if we keep Tinkle around a little longer guy, but after that UP game I was pretty ready to part ways. The transformation of this team from that point has been fun to watch.

Lucas can't guard his position, can't create for himself, can't create for others. (13/23/.084 PER/USG/WS48), 7.5% AST rate and currently 64th in defensive rating (dead last on the team) out of 73 Pac-12 players playing 20+ a night. The Beavers are forced to sit in zone to hide Lucas & Reichle on the perimeter which leads to problems on the glass. He belongs at Portland State with athletes of a similar profile. Of the Beavers 13 wins on the season only 5 have come against teams with a positive differential despite playing in the worst power conference in the nation. 2 of those 5 are now the Ducks missing 3 starters including Duarte (26/23/.216 PER/USG/WS48) and Stanford missing DaSilva (27/27/.235 PER/USG/WS48). (Post-season? LOL) If Ethan leaves (27% AST rate) the Beavers will be a dumpster fire in the backcourt with Lucas, Hunt, Hand & Key-Malone responsible for creating and defending the perimeter. They're headed right back to the basement (10th or worse). Tinkle isn't building a damn thing but mirage amongst an extremely unintelligent fan base. IF you would like to challenge this forecasting based on analytics/player evaluation/recruiting put your account where your mouth is. I have seen the caliber of basketball discussion here. I guarantee I will accept any poster betting his account on better than 10th next year.

I’ll stand by what I said then. At that point, after losing to U of Portland and the other bad teams, we sucked! The players sucked and the coaching sucked. Some of you must be used to only politics where a person can’t change their mind and opinion as the circumstances change. I love watching the way the team is playing since then. I guess it just took time for the team to gel with themselves and Coach Tinkle. Good for them! Love when the Orange Express moniker is applicable! Go Beavs!

Lucas’s D has been panned here often, but it has come a long way, and WT mentioned it tonight after the game as something he was proud of from the game. He even said he believes he can become a defensive stopper if he chooses to. I appreciate that WT believes in him, as clearly you do not. As for next year, if this team continues to commit to improving defensively, I believe they can be better next year, even without Ethan. But of course, with my basketball IQ being so vastly inferior to yours, I had to write this post in crayon. Btw - it seems somehow significant that we took 12 more shots than they did, and they had a +12 on the rebound total. Can you enlighten me on how those two things might be related? Also, while you are at it, can you explain how the WS48 stat works for the 40 minute college game?

If Tinkle believed a word of that BS he wouldn't be hiding him in zone. He's not a good enough athlete to ever be a stopper. Your numbers are off (+5, +2). WS48 is incorrect, thank you for correcting what should read WS40.

I personally prefer the WD-40 model. You should check it out. It’s pretty slick!
