I thought that this article was interesting for even mentioning Oregon State.

Agree - seems odd to even be mentioned. With a current BPI of 109, I don't see how we're in striking distance of an at-large bid.
The good news though is that maybe the NIT will come knocking.

I think the only way OSU has any chance at an at large bid is if they win their last 4 regular season games.. that puts them at 11-9 in conference and 15-11 overall and then win at least 2 games in the PAC 12 Tournament...even then it's iffy.. OSU needs to win the PAC 12 Tournament for NCAA.. I think NIT more likely if they finish strong and win 1 or 2 in the PAC 12 Tournament

NET ranking of 121 is not helpful either for an at-large. If you break our games down what it comes down to is that we tend to win the games we should and lose the games we should. Outside of Wyoming/Portland and the win against USC there aren't a lot of big surprises in the results of most games this season. A 2-5 quadrant 1 record and 0-3 quadrant 2 record aren't great for a tournament resume. Now if don't lose those two games early on and maybe sneak out the win @asu or @wsu then maybe there's a conversation to be had. That would've put us at 14-8 (8-8) or 15-7 (9-7) which is probably firmly on the bubble. This team was close I think this year, but early season growing pains and a lack of enough offensive firepower kept them from it.
I still don't think we would be a team people want to play in the Pac-12 tournament. We'll grind, scratch, and claw for everything and make teams work for it. Maybe if the guys get hot and hit some shots in Vegas they can make some noise.

I think that Oregon State probably needs to win four and play into the Pac-12 Tournament Final. That probably gets the Beavers in. 3-1 and Pac-12 Tournament Final or 4-0 and Pac-12 Tournament Semifinal probably puts Oregon State on the bubble. Short of that, an at large bid is doubtful. Although, with coronavirus, there may be a scratch that puts the Beavers in. As for the NIT, the Beavers need to win more games than they lose from here on out. The Beavers need to get their NET down into the low 110s at least to be considered, though. Once again, I think you might be able to fudge that a little, if one or two teams have a coronavirus outbreak down the stretch run.

Limited field will make it more difficult for the Beavers to make it into the NIT.

Limited field will make it more difficult for the Beavers to make it into the NIT. But, if the report is correct, there are no AQs this year, which usually eat up between 5-15 spots. Basically, there will be 16 at large NIT spots as opposed to the regular ~22.

Who gives a rat’s ass about the NIT? I would say going to the NIT would be a good thing for the team picked to finish in last place.

Anyone who thinks this would be settling for mediocre is nuts.. When was the last time OSU even made NIT?.. 2005 I believe.. Only way this would be settling for mediocrity would be if OSU was in consistent NCAA tournament discussion every season and had do always "Settle" for the NIT.. They have over achieved this season..who here honestly thought OSU would be in the discussion for any post season this year?

I would be stoked about the NIT. An NIT invite is only a disappointment if it should have been a tournament team - clearly not the case going into this season. NIT invites can also set up nicely for tourney bids in subsequent seasons.
