Air Force, Utah State, Montana State, New Mexico. No wonder we’re ranked 107.

Air Force, Utah State, Montana State, New Mexico. No wonder we’re ranked 107. Can’t believe we’re not getting recruits with offers from Clemson, Alabama or Ohio St. Unbelievable!

Isn’t there a happy medium? “Turned down Cal, WSU and Minnesota to sign with the Beavers!”

Isn’t there a happy medium? “Turned down Cal, WSU and Minnesota to sign with the Beavers!” We are getting some those. Look at the profiles. We got a few of those last year as well. Got to have some winning seasons to get more of them.

Air Force, Utah State, Montana State, New Mexico. No wonder we’re ranked 107. Nobody will argue with you that we wouldn't want to see better results. But, what you stated is misleading. 6 of the 10 high school recruits in this class had offers from other power 5 schools. We have never seen that high of a percentage in our classes. Being ranked 107 is 95% related to class size. If it wasn't this would actually be our highest ranked class ever as the average per recruit is higher. Class size metric is the worst measurement of fan happiness in recruiting. Smaller class sizes mean your coach is working harder to keep players rather than driving them away. I would rather a coach who keeps and develops his players. I think we should be happy when our coach has smaller class sizes.

It's not easy to recruit to Corvallis. That said, I think Smith is doing a fantastic job so far. A good mix of high school, JC, transfers....and in-state kids with some hometown pride.
The reality is, pulling this program from the ashes, after big boy pants burned it down, is a monumental task.....and there's no guarantee Smith will even have a lot of success.
He IS winning some recruiting battles for kids with P5 options. He IS changing the culture to a place where kids see it's not a sinking ship......there is stability in the coaching staff. I think one of the most important factors moving forward is, Smith's teams typically make halftime adjustments, and play better in the 2nd half.....unlike, say the ducks.....recruits see this, and understand it. Kids with options don't want to play for a hopelessly losing program.....so you gotta prove it to get em to come....
And on top of it all, we get constant reminders of how 40 minutes down I5, pk university has become a recruiting powerhouse.....college football WANTS the quacks to get to the next level....it makes me wanna barf! The fact that they can go thru coaches like TP and still somehow continue to attract better and better recruits?! FTd!!
Ok off the soap box.... I think if Smith sticks around, which it seems like he will, he will have us right in the mix for conference titles.....imo, thats all we can ask for.....be nice to get a 🌹 bowl.

Small class. The four highly rated portal transfers are not added to this rating, which would raise us up 20 notches or so. With the transfer portal, which allows players to transfer without penalty, osu has used, and will continue to use that to add immediate impact transfers to build our roster. Of the recruits, most had power 5 offers and some had numerous power 5 offers...adding 4 transfers who each could start in year one is huge too...9 guys and 4 transfers so far.
Collins...rb...offers...ASU,Boise St,Ole Miss,Cal,Colorado Fa'amoe DL...offers...Arizona,LSU,Neb,Tenn Mascarenas..MLB...offers...Arizona,ASU,Boise St,Colo Valsin...wr...offers...Cincy,Hawaii,Colorado,Illini,Indy,Houston Madison...db...offers...Boise st,Fresno st,Kansas,Washington White...ol...offers...Arizona,ASU,Boise st,Florida Vidlak...qb...Rated a 4* talent and would have numerous offers if he played this year Buckles...ol...Really good athlete...top shot putter(63ft) and discus thrower Bryne...Te...top athlete...offers...E.Washington,Cornell
