OSU moved up to 149 from 183 with the win last night. 2-0 in quadrant 1 games (both of the last two games), but 0-3 in quadrant 2 games and 4-2 in quadrant 4 games. Those two losses to Wyoming and Portland probably dragging us down about 80 spots right now looking at where a couple other teams are ranked with resumes similar to ours had we won those 2 (60th-70th range). NCAAs are more than likely out of the question this year already barring a really strong showing the rest of the way, and even then we still likely need to win the conference tournament given the piss poor non-conference performance. I'll continue enjoying the wins so long as we keep getting them though.
Other Pac-12/NC opponent rankings:
16. Colorado 24. USC 31. Arizona 33. UCLA 45. uo (down 22 spots from #23 after the game last night) 59. Stanford 95. Utah 116. ASU 127. WSU 149. OSU 176. Cal 184. Wyoming
209. UW 260. UTSA
264. Portland State 299. Portland
The game against NAIA Northwest is not counted in the NET rankings. COVID really tanked our SOS as games against both major Iowa schools and K-State (and potentially a couple other better teams in a non-conference tournament) were canceled. Although I'm not sure we would've fared much better against them anyway given our lackluster start to the season. Iowa State (2-7) and K-State (5-10) have also both struggled mightily this year, albeit against much tougher schedules than ours.
For reference, the rankings of the Iowas and K-State:
5. Iowa 199. Iowa State 210. Kansas State

OSU's next 2 games are on the road vs USC and UCLA.. OSU wins one or both they can make another big jump in the NET as those would both be considered quad 1 wins

How in the heck did the team of the last 3 games lose to WY and UP!? My (and some others') guess: a lot of new players needing more time to gel. Alatishe, Andela, Callo are all new players who get a lot of minutes. Silver and Johnson are new. Franklin is a RS who's never played before this year. Silva, Lucas and Hunt get a lot of minutes and are only in their second year here. Only Thompson and Reichle have played together for more than two years. That's a lot of new and relatively new people who need to get used to each other and that takes time.

I am absolutely not even entertaining the hope that they find a way into the postseason - I just can’t do that to myself. However, I am relishing seeing the team show a steady upward progression. To even have a team that the rest of the league now fears playing makes the season enjoyable.

This team is capable of beating either LA team. Ucla looked mediocre yesterday, and SC is young and talented...inconsistent.

Right now, Oregon State is probably on the outside looking in in the NIT, but the Beavers are probably one of the first four out at this point. If the Beavers went 7-6, that would probably get them there.
Oregon State likely needs to go 8-5 at least in order to get an at large berth. 10-3 would make the Beavers very likely to be in the field of 64. 12-1 is a clincher, barring a complete collapse in the Pac-12 Tournament. If the Beavers can make it to the Pac-12 Semifinals or Finals, that may reduce the foregoing numbers by a game or two.

I love that I now live in a world where people are talking NCAA Tournament for the men's team while questioning the talent level of the women's team and Rueck's coaching acumen.
