Remember the 60's? But the people who said that are electing the oldest presidents we've ever had. Go figure. The quote was made by Jack Weinberg on or before November 15, 1964. At that time, he was a 24-year-old, who had dropped out of a graduate program at Berkeley, in order to concentrate on civil rights activities. He was quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle, which published it in an effort to ridicule the beatnik movement, which was quickly morphing into the hippie movement. In the end, the hippies used quote in the other direction, deriding the Greatest Generation and the generations before. At that time, Donald Trump was 18, a freshman at Fordham. Joe Biden was a senior at the University of Delaware. They may have ascribed to the quote above before pulling their collective heads out of their a$$es. Anyway, Boomers and Silent Generation Era voters electing Boomer (Clinton, Bush 43, Obama and Trump) and Silent Generation (Biden) Presidents is hardly shocking. The eight presidents before all served in World War II with the final seven being members of the Greatest Generation.

The post-war baby boom officially started on January 1, 1946, which doesn't really add up since the war in Europe didn't end until May 7, 1945. Clinton, Bush the younger, and Trump were all born in 1946. Actually, I do think it's shocking that that old folks (and I'm one of them) would nominate and elect other old folks. Just as you lose physical abilities as you age, you lose other things like stamina, drive, focus, and mental acumen. These things aren't as visually obvious as the physical things, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think they're happening. A professional athlete will 'peak' in his early to mid 30's in most cases, and then his skill level starts to drop. I think an executive probably peaks in his early to mid 50's, and then there is a slow, gradual drop off. There comes a time when you simply don't want someone that age running things and making critical decisions, and politicians are no exception.
